I can't upload a profile photo?

Post by Shepherd » May 11th, 2007, 7:18 pm

It is a jpg, it's 250 pixels wide and 248 pixels high, and 15 kb in size. I keep getting the error message "you can only upload .jpg files."

It, er, is.

Any ideas?

The code that is processing the file might not be written to cover all cases correctly. Make sure there is nothing unusual in the name: no trailing spaces, only one "." no spaces, not too many characters, no non-alphanumeric characters, the extension is in lower case (might not be even if Micro Soft shows it that way), no spaces in the file name. Rename the file something simple like "pic.jpg" and try again.

It's too large. The "Avatar Control Panel" at the bottom of your profile says:
Displays a small graphic image below your details in posts. Only one image can be displayed at a time, its width can be no greater than 126 pixels, the height no greater than 126 pixels, and the file size no more than 10 KB.
So downsize your image (to no bigger than 126 x 126 pixels and no larger than 10 KB ) and try again!

HTH,

Alissa

Hi all,

The file is currently named "row.jpg". It's on my C drive: C:/row.jpg; 250 pixels wide, 240 pixels high, 14.5 kB. Clicking on some "rower of the day" profiles and it's very comparable to those.

And thanks Alissa, but I'm talking about the main Concept2 profile, the one that links from your "current log" page. The forum avatar is an entirely different thing.

I don't know if you resolved this problem or not, but I had exactly
the same problem. My computer at home is an iMac. I don't know
why that should make a difference, but I emailed my photo to myself
at work and tried uploading from a PC. That worked without a
problem.

#1 Rule to follow: You can only upload .jpg files to Concept2 profile using Microsoft's Internet Explorer on a IBM type system only, You can't use Firefox, or any other other browser, you can't use a MAC computer.
