Hi Byron, I/We need a Hint! oe a sharper image!
It's a good natured, very funny, campy movie with references to Heart of Darkness, The African Queen, and others. Actors include Shannon Tweed, Bill Maher, Karen Mistal, Adrienne Barbeau. I don't want to give away the plot, but there is one scene where they are traveling down the river and they encounter the Donahues, a tribe of nurturing, caring, wimpy males who sit around and knit doilies and eat kiesch and drink chocolate milk. The Donahues start throwing things at them and Jim, an Indiana Jones type played by Bill Maher, is hit by something. He thinks he is mortally wounded but then notices it was just a doily. He says something like "Careful, they might have flatware."

I should explain that there used to be a daytime TV talk show with Phil Donahue who tried to discuss women's issues with sensitivity.

I had a poster for the movie on my office wall at the university. Once a student came to my office hours for some help with Calculus. She noticed the poster and said "I know that movie. That's a really stupid movie. My dad watches it all the time."
