Erging
Dumb question - I am knew. What is "erg"? I see it used in a variety of ways. Like a verb - "I erg every other day".
Re: Erging
Erg is short for Ergometer. An ergometer is something that measures energy. An Erg is a unit of energy equal to a gram-centimeter squared per second squared, or equal to 2.8*10^-11 watt-hours. I.e a very small unit.rookierower wrote:Dumb question - I am knew. What is "erg"? I see it used in a variety of ways. Like a verb - "I erg every other day".
An erg is a rowing machine. To erg is to row on a rowing machine. This is of course jargon and bad english. As Calvin (of calvin and hobbs fame) said "verbing weirds language."

It is how one pronounces ugh when overcome with nausea. It is the common reaction of OTW rowers when the coach tells them that today's training session will be on the rowing machines.rookierower wrote:Dumb question - I am knew. What is "erg"? It is also the slang term for the finest exercise machine available.
