The drag factors for my PB's have been from 77 marathon to 109 for 500 meters.

Currently I'm using a drag factor of 71.
bikeerg 75 5'8" 155# - 18.5 - 51.9 - 568 - 1:52.7 - 8:03.8 - 20:13.1 - 14620 - 40:58.7 - 28855 - 1:23:48.0
rowerg 56-58 5'8.5" 143# - 1:39.6 - 3:35.6 - 7:24.0 - 18:57.4 - 22:49.9 - 7793 - 38:44.7 - 1:22:48.9 - 2:58:46.2

From what I have read, it is somewhat of a personal decision. I use two different ergs at the gym, a Model D and a Model C. I've found drag factor around 95-100 to be about right for me. That is setting 7 on the Model D and Setting 5 on the Model C. Any lighter and I feel like I'm not pulling on anything, and much higher and I feel sluggish.

Try a few minutes at different drag factors and see what feels right. It might take a while to get it perfect.

It sounds like both of those ergs need a thorough cleaning, unless they are at several thousand feet of elevation.

Doesn't seem low at all. Dwayne Adams said he used a 120 for his recent 2K which was a 5:47.9 (thats a 1:27 pace)
I'm 5'7" 150 lbs 47 male and I use about 115.

Hmm, I row nearly everything on df 108.

I usually suggest that ladies should use damper 1,2 or 3 and fellas should use 3, 4 or 5 when they start rowing. [Of course, all the muscle-bound gym monkeys use damper 10 and row badly.]

Forget everything said about this Dwayne A. He is a fraud who only claims to have done things. The few time he did compete in a real race he never came close to this.

Whatever. 1) It doesn't change my point. 2) We've been here before. 3) I'm more concerned about other records being set using steroids and EPO then I am about whether Dwayne cheated or not.

I row at low drag myself but,

1 you didn,t make a point, some people row better at a higher drag.
2 we still are here on this point, if you use this argument look at people who are for real
3 A total other point, has nothing to do with drag. Ergers are not tested at races if that,s your point.
