You're welcome!
John Rupp wrote:Two days ago I replaced the hooks with 5/16 x 4 1/2 inch lag screws, each with a fender washer, and 2 1/2 inches of irrigation tubing for use as spacers and protection of the slides. These have turned out to work *very* well and look great! Hopefully I will get around to posting a picture of them.
Here are some photos of the lag screws that hold up the slides.

I'd optimally raise the holes for the top two screws an inch or two so the slides would be even and not touch, but just used the same ones the hooks were in.

rowperfect video

Post by johnlvs2run » April 9th, 2007, 12:04 am

Here is a video of the new rowperfect coming out in a month.

Honestly, the rowperfect looks quite flimsy and the action looks rough.

Warren Berger's modified fixed seat model B looks much better, as do the regular c2 and the c2 on slides.

Concept2 should get in touch with Warren if they are interested to develop a dynamic model of the erg.

Welcome improvements on the new Rowperfect. Looks much sturdier and modern than the previous model and a smoother action too.

The new shape of the handle and parts of the flywheel cage strangely look similiar to the C2 rower. The seat though looks like straight out of a boat. Obviously not original ideas.

Notice how they now call it the indoor sculler. I reserve any further judgement until I get a chance to demo one at the next Aust Masters Champs Regatta in Sydney.

C2 could solve their dynamic flywheel problem by buying out Rowperfect, to obtain their patent, and then design and build a better machine.

Caution: Static C2 ergs can ruin your technique and timing for rowing in a boat.
The best thing I ever did to improve my rowing was to sell my C2 and get a Rowperfect.

I wouldn't bother with rowperfect as their design doesn't look good at all.

Warren Berger's design is different and better.

Hi Roland,

Did you notice that one of the 'improvements' appears to be a restriction of the freedom of seat movement? I thought that I had noticed that when I tried the new machine out at Masters Nationals, but this confirms the change. I'm not quite sure if it's a step forward or not, since learning how to manage that movement is one of the very critical skills a rower must learn. So to have it somewhat restricted may or may not aid the person using the machine. Plus it looks to do away with the lateral degree of freedom (tippines) of the seat.

I like having a more "normal" rowing seat on the Erg, so asked Carl Douglas to make up something for me, he did quite a nice job (Mahogany), I'll see if I can remember to get a few pictures of them posted.
Erg on,
