No, ergs don't yet float, but some of us do, and here's where you get to discuss that other form of rowing.

In my 38 years, I'm pretty sure I've never heard anyone say it.
Its on Wikipedia Daren so it must be true

When I was a senior in high school our school purchased two new WinTech 4+ that we could call our own (4yr old program at the time). They were supposed to have their own names, something out of norse mythology, except all the rowers in our boat decided to call it something we had always wanted to name a boat, so we took black electrical tape and spelled out SHURIKEN on the bow of the boat. We got a lot of interesting looks when it came time to launch

If I ever get around to buying my own boat, I intend to name it Charon (Share-On). That's the name of the ferryman in Greek Mythology who rows the dead across the river Styx. I just always thought it had an interesting and obscure meaning. As for existing boats, my favorite name is "Blue By You".

The ferryman's name is pronounced Karen, not Sharon.

Charon. Meh, I like the sound of it either way. That is how my English teacher pronounces it and I like it better that way, I think. Either way it comes dangerously close to sounding like Sharon and Karen. ^_^

I thought Pluto wasn't a planet any more?
Pluto would make a nice name for a boat too, even more if rowed by a Goofy like me!

The folks at Capital Rowing Club in Washington DC have very clever names for their boats. The ones I can remember are:
Capital Punishment
Capital Offense

Well most of our boats in our boathouses are named after past Headmasters, but there are a few that aren't named like that. The boat name that I like the most is our yellow 14kg severin scull called Lady Fortune.
