Sunday, January 27.

Morning — 2K: 8:01.4. (2:00.4)
Afternoon — 30': 6914m. (2:10.1)

Neither of them are personal bests, but they are WRs for M HWT 80+.

The first one is official since it was in a race venue, but is 3.5 seconds short of my seasons best of 7:57.9. I originally thought that the earlier one would be an official WR, since it was a "national team (i.e. USIRT) tryout time trial," but the rules had been changed on that, so it didn't count.

The 30' piece has been validated, so it qualifies for the ranking record. It is not a PB, since I had done 30' (and 60') pieces a decade ago, but it is a post-op PB for me.

Maybe you need to start a new thread... "Brag about that new WR!"

It feels like a PB.

10K in 38:29.9
Although my PB is 38:08 for the 10K, it was 2 years ago, so I'm very pleased with this time considering I don't target a PB for the piece.
I'm now after the 8K in 30', so this is good training toward my goal. B)

Damn. I told Roger R. that if I could bring my 2K PB down from 7:18.2 to around 7:10 I'd consider going to CRASH B. Today's time trial:

1:48.5
1:47.5
1:47.5
1:46.5

You guessed it - 7:10.0

Came 10' after an attempt where I bailed out at 1100 meter to go when went out too fast (1:45.8).

Guess I'll have to see what I'm doing on Feb. 25th.
If you don't try, you will never know how bad you suck.

New 2k PB

Post by Big Fat Fishy » February 5th, 2007, 9:29 am

7:05.5

Finally took the plunge and competed at the full 2000m distance. Possibly over-paced myself in the first 1500m as I was able to bring down my split significantly in the final 500m.

On the positive side I can still walk, and both lungs are firmly in place.

Next year I plan to bring it down under 7:00.0

For now, time to strap on the sneakers and remember how to run.
Look behind you.

Supposed to do 2x15' UT1 @ 1:57 today. Set the PM for 30' in case I was feeling good. Got in a zone listening to UPS driver and great mandolin player Johnny Staats "Wires and Wood" album and managed to beat my PB by 103 meters with an avg pace of 1:54.7 for 7846 meters. A great Jerry Douglas solo with 5 minutes to go really helped down the stretch.

Hi,

Today I rowed 1 K 7 seconds faster than before. My new PB is 3:39:9.

The split time was 1:50:0, which is good for me.
