Happy New Year everyone! :D

Now, with the help of our friends Shannon and Ellen from DIAR really nothing can go wrong! We already have a team of 12 great rowers for the challenge! And a few of the coveted seats in the "All Stars" boat are still availible, so I hope a few more will get in (it's never too late!)

Happy rowing everyone!

Honored by the invite to join the JVC. I already signed up with resolutions in a row for this challenge, so let the races begin!

Looking forward to the C2C. All my PBs are a couple of years old now and it will take a few months to approach them again, but the C2C gives just the tiny bit of extra motivation to keep me at it.

I've got 468,069 meters left to row to complete 1 million meters by February 1st. Over the halfway mark.

Great progress on your million meters challenge, Margaret! And it's nice to have that friendly exchange between the Ducks and the Eh! Team. :D

Jim, yes, it's a pity that we can't visit all those beautiful places in real life too. Peru must be a beautiful country. Our team is rowing at an amazing speed these days! It looks like the pace from the Holiday Challenge just continues into the January Challenge!

Great rowing in the "All Stars Boat" everyone!!!

We are no. 7 out of 119 teams at the moment, with 21 great rowers, and it's never too late to join in, if you haven't yet! (well, ok, February might be too late  ). Just PM me if you want to join. All your January rows will be counted in, even those you did before you signed up.

I guess if we keep on rowing like that, we might arrive at C2 headquarters in early March ....

Hi guys! Can I join you for the January Challenge, since my team (Taff Attack Racing) isn't participating? I am a full blooded Canadian! What info do you need from me to add me to the list, Bri?

Hi Krysta!

In the temporary absence of Bri this is what she needs:
If you want me to add you to the team for the January Challenge, just send me a PM or a ranking email with your first name, last name and the email that you used on your (logbook) profile.
Welcome aboard!

Dave

We couldn't maybe tempt you to stay permanently could we?

Thanks for that, Dave. I will PM Bri with the info. Sorry, can't stay for good. Loyal Taffette here. :)

I will try and give Bri a run for her money on meters this month, though. She's ahead at the moment!

Oh, well, this is what happens when you wake up in the morning: I feel Krysta's hot breath in my neck, and see that Margaret has used the time while I was peacefully slumbering in my bed, to get ahead of me ... And I thought I could have a lazy day today *sigh*

Glad to have you on board, Krysta! :D

Well, Gentlemen, I know you have just been polite and given us girls a head start, but you really can start to row now!

I can't speak for the other men here, but in my defense I would like to state that of my 41,836 metres so far, I have set new PBs in the 1K (CTC R24), 10K and 60 minutes (15836m), so have not been taking it easy! B)

IIRC March 7 was my guess for the RTW completion. Looking good I think.

Looks like we might both be winning Dave, I had picked March 7th too(my b-day) :? . Maybe we'll have guess the time :D .

I'm going to row all that I can Bri, but I'm using the excuse that I'm training for cycling too. Not the best excuse for dedicated rowers, but I seriously want to beat some people next summer :x .

Nice rowin' everyone.

Impressive graph in your signature Brigitte.
Is it automatic or do you have to update it manually?

Keep on rowin', eh.

Dave
I've only done the CTC, PB'd in the hour, and rowed a nasty set of 4x 4 min intervals the day after the hour. Compared to you I'm slacking Dave.

I don't predict a PB in the 1K at r24. A person my size dosen't find r24 suitable to a sprint.

Cheers,

Kirk

If we're swapping January PB stories, I kicked off the new year with a Marathon PB on the Jan 1st - 3:06:23.9 (2:12.5 pace) :)

Krysta, Congrats for the marathon.
Is this an annual event for you?

I don't know if I can train my butt to put up with the erg for as long as it would take me to row that distance.
I've been on several 100 mile rides, but I like my bicycle.

Cheers,

Ouch on the 100 mile bicycle rides! See, for me, that would be far more painful than a few hours on an erg.

I am planning to make these New Year marathons be an annual event for me, barring pregnancy or other unforseen circumstances. I can only stomach a marathon once per year.

But someday, when I am fitter, I would like to try a 100 km row like my brother-in-law, Yukon John.
