Holiday Challenge - are you going for it
I've completed a holiday challenge for the past 4 years, but this will be my first year to miss it. A back injury has sidelined my rowing, and it's at this time of year I really miss it.
I love the way I'd count up my meters until I hit 200K. Last year I was over 50K short of the goal when Dec 24th dawned. I had several rows throughout the day to make it, and I was pretty darn proud of that...although my wife made comments about me being a rowing geek.
Have fun with your challenge, and be thankful you can still row; I really miss it.

HC
only going to make about 60K, but it's more than I was doing last year at this time (hadn't started). at least it's a start and gives me a chance to work off stress after work.
Finished today's (Wed., 12/20) workout with an HC total of 185,615. I expect to do 21' "wakeups" on Thursday and (hopefully) Friday. These will contribute only about 8600- 8800 total, so I will be falling about 6k short of the 200k. So now it all hinges on whether or not I can get a regular workout in on Friday. My IP schedule gives me a choice of 3x13'AT or 4x3'TR. Together with a proper warmup and cool down, either of these would be enough, especially the 3x13'AT. Even just a 2x13'AT alone might do it. Just a full warmup and cool down with no piece in between would probably get me over the line. The questionable part is how early will we need to get away Friday for a trip to the coast for a holiday visit. After that there will be no more erging until after the HC closes.

I have reached 175000 today and in track to finish saturday. Altough I've made the 200K challenge before, this year has been special. This is because I wasn't rowing and took the challenge to begin rowing again. As you all know the erg isn't an easy machine if you are not using it, and believe me the very first days were very hard. Now I'm rowing like a year ago, doing my 30 minutes rows at 1:54 pace, and enjoying every minute on it . My first goal was to do the 200K challenge, now I'm looking to do a 8K in the 30 minutes piece. I almost do it a year ago but because a wrist problem I quit. Hope to do it in a month or so.

I'm right behind you ancho!
Gonna knock off the last 11K this afternoon. If feeling well, may stretch the row to an hour and then I won't get deeper on the spouse's "badboy" list because I need to row rather than go see a movie tomorrow( boy did I get an earful on that one the other day! ). Plus no need for additional workout on top of my otw time on the weekend.
Great rowing by everyone on the challenge!

194,441 meters and should be able to complete the challenge tomorrow.
The great thing about the challenge for me is it has helped and inspired, provided motivation for me to get back into my rowing again.
In previous years I went all gung ho seeing how many meters I could do, and it's nice to have the self imposed pressure off, enjoying myself and yet making good progress doing something that is great for my fitness and health! I intend to keep going after the challenge is over, and keeping some reasonable sessions next summer, rather than just letting it all slack off as I did for the last one.
Congratulations to all who are taking part in the holiday challenge!
Happy holidays.

That's also the reason this year challenge has been special for me. Today reached 182K, so a pair of 9K sessions and can have a couple of rest days from the erg. But this doesn't end here, and I'm planning other personal challenges to don't quit. The great thing about the challenge for me is it has helped and inspired, provided motivation for me to get back into my rowing again.
And best wishes in this holiday season to the rest of the rowing comunity...Congratulations to all who are taking part in the holiday challenge!
Happy holidays. [/quote]
