track coming unglued

Post by Afterburner » November 8th, 2006, 4:52 pm

We have been having a problem with several of the ergs at our club of having the metal strip on the top of the slide coming unglued.
Does anybody have any experience with this and/or good fixes?
Thanks in advance,
Heather

Hi Heather,
The best fix is to replace the tracks. It is difficult to work on the track without bending it and making it worse.
They are pretty inexpensive (under $15 ea) unless they are still covered under warranty.

You can give us a call, 800-245-5676 or send an email to rowing@concept2.com

C2 offers this at a very reasonable price. It has two long pieces of double-sided tape where it contacts the sides of the rail.

They do make TWO sizes. Somehow, I was sent the LONG one and had to cut off about 6 inches to make it work. It is stainless steel, and pretty hard to cut without a grinder and cutting wheel. If you order the rail, verify the length before you call C2.

Good luck.

Also...

When removing the old top strip, you'll have to clean the rail before you mount the new strip. the old adhesive is fairly nasty.

Have some patience, and get a good scraping tool and some solvent. If you use acetone, be careful. Wear gloves and cover up skin and face.
