Post by Micky66 » September 3rd, 2006, 6:05 pm

Hi There, im new to this forum so be kind!
Im new to the concept 2 machine having only just bought one for home use Model D pm3. I have just completed a 40 min row at a moderate to high pace, not flat chat and recorded the following times ect
. time...40min
DISTANCE...10958.9 MTR
AV SPLIT... 1:49.5
AV RATING...26 SPM
AV H/R...155
MAX H/R...166
MY AGE...
WEIGHT...97KG

I was wondering if this is any good/needs improving /is not a bad distance ect for what other people are getting on this forum?
Any feedback would be most helpful

Kind?

We are always kind over here!!

I think that was a great workout !,for a 23 year old,
but why go for 40min and not a 10k?

avg = okay
spm = okay

Hr = no idea
age = no idea

That's a VERY good start!
Have you been rowing before?
What is your purpose with the indoor rower?
If you folow a more or less structured training programm, you can do very well!
Try to search for "Wolverine Plan", "Pete Plan" or ""Interactive Training Programme"

Why go for 10k when not doing a trial? :?

40 min is a standard time for the WP (Wolverine Plan) Level4 workouts.

Tyn, I kindly ( :D ) inform you that if you are restricted with your time scheduled, workouts based on time are quite practical.

My most used are: "just row", 0,5k; 1k; 2k; 40 min; 60min and HM

And, in those strange cases of mental illness, all the standard rankeable distances...

And still happy with it! :P

Micky66, not to go too far off topic:
I don't know if you know the Concept2 rowing log (http://www.concept2.com/sranking03/log_start.asp)
It allows you to keep a log of all your rowed meters, and to rank your times for some standard distances/times (500m, 1k, 2k, 5k, 6k, 10k, half marathon, full marathon, 30min and 60min). There you can see your progress compared to other fellow rowers in all the world, even selecting age/weight/country groups etc.
I think the rowing log and the rankings are a really outstanding motivation, just give it a try!

Happy rowing!

Thanks to all for your helpful info! Much appreciated.

O.K ive been rowing at a very competitive level for 23 years, and only retired this season, BUT we never really used the ergs for training except for once or twice a season,never used them to there full potential, and when we did only compared our scores amongst ourselves ( never compared outside the section as we looked at this as bragging, plus we never wanted to give to much away as to how we were going) so we erged in a very sheltered invornment ! We had plenty of guys who could pull some HUGE scores over all distances, but now retired i thought i would like to see what the wider erg comunity was doing and compare that to me! I bought the erg for home to basically keep fit.

Hope i did not lead anybody on by seeming that i was a complete novice to rowing, BUT i guess i am a novice to full on erging as im now doing 4-5 sessions a week compared to 1-2 a season.
I have purchased row pro and im really enjoyng the challenge of beating my prvious scores .
