Pulled a 7:23.2 r20 TT this AM. A 4.3 second improvement over my last TT 6 weeks ago and 14 seconds faster than 13 weeks ago when I started following the plan that Jim Pisano uses. I still have yet to attemp to do an unrestricted 2K since March when I pulled 7:37 at a rate of about 28.

Rich:
Congrats.
Do you ever wonder how fast you could do a non-rate-restricted 2k? I must say that I am wondering how fast you could do a 2k. I'm also wondering how fast you could do it at sea level.
Now that you've gone through two sets of 20 to 40 minute progressions of 20 s/m uninterupted aerobic work, what's your next step?
Good luck. Keep up the good work. You are making some impressive progress.
Congrats.

Jim,
Thanks! I've thinking about doing an unrestricted 2K for some time but keep putting it off. Even though I am going as hard as I possibly can at r20, unrestricted is so much more painful. I was grunting like Monica Seles on a hot Wimbeldon afternoon for the last 500M on Saturday but the pain was primarily muscular as they filled with lactic acid. Doing unrestricted, the misery comes more from my lungs.
That said, I guess I have to suck it up and stop putting it off. Today I did an easy 20 minute recovery piece at 192W and I think I will do another tomorrow. After that I should be back to 100% and will give an unrestricted a go on Wednesday or Thursday latest. Don't know what I will shoot for probablly start out at the 257 Watts at around r30 and play it by ear.

Did my first Half Marathon today.... started off at about 2:10/500m then gradually lowered it down. Did the last 5k fairly hard and finished the entire piece in 88 mins 21 secs at 20spm. Overall I was fairly happy with the result, average heart rate was 152, probably could have gone harder but I just wanted to finish and set a bench mark for future HMs.

New 30'r20 PB just during a normal workout ---> 7,224. Since my unrestricted 30' is 7,285, that's gotta fall when I get an opportunity to take a crack at it.
Also passed 3 million lifetime meters during today's workout.

Two PBs in the same workout! Don't know what I was thinking, 2k in 6:49.9 and 500m in 1:30.1. Old PBs were 6:53.4 and somewhere around 1:31 in the 500m.
Goal of 6:35 for the 2k in February

Wait, let me get this straight. You held 1:30split for the last 500m of your 2k and got 6:49.9?! I think you are underestimating yourself saucecmu40. If your holding that much lower for your last 500, try holding like 1:41 for the whole thing.saucecmu40 wrote:Two PBs in the same workout! I agree! What were the splits for each of your 500M? If you held 1:30 you can definitely get to 6:35.Wait, let me get this straight. You held 1:30split for the last 500m of your 2k and got 6:49.9?!
