OK Gang - The August Series motors along....A couple of full HC 10k races this weekend. Up to date standings are below.
Next event on Wed is a 5k. I will set up a handicap 5k for Wed around 1900 GM. Email me your expected times if you join (ecp842 "at" yahoo "dot" com) I think the handicapping makes the racing more fun.

I was the only one entered, so not much of a handicap. Results were saved to Oarbits.
Will Haskell estimated: 18:06, actual: 18:04.7
A season's best for me.

Miserable, wretched row for me. Classic fly & die. 20 seconds worse than my SB.
As Mary Chapin Carpenter sings..."Sometimes you are the windshield, sometimes you are the bug"
bzzzzzzzzzz...........smack!

Hi Ernie,
I managed to miss the online race tonight (19:00GMT) due to wireless internet connection gremlins....they must have just been starting as I was trying to check-in for the race, as I seemed to be in for a split second, and then RP crashed!
Anyway, I did a 5k off-line, but on RP and managed a new pb of
17:45.5....I took all my technology frustrations out on the erg!!
Feel free to work out my handicap based on my old pb of 17:46.9 as I think we agreed email correspondence! I'm just chuffed to have pb'd!!
I think it works out as 920 nonathlon points.
Ant Stansbie

Excellent race Ant. I was very happy with my race this morning even though it was shy of my PB (17:56). I have a ways to go to get down to 17:45!

Great job Ant! I am sorry you missed the race. I was the default race master once Ernie dropped out and I asked the guys how long we should wait for you... I guess we should have waited one more minute.
I didn't get a PB, but had a great workout, so no worries there. Ernie, I got 22:08.2.

I could not make the scheduled race but I did it on my own with PB at 18:09.7. It hurt. As usual.

Thanks guys!!
Shannon -- No problem with not waiting.....i'm generally of the opinion that you shouldn't wait more than 5 minutes anyway....and I was a couple of minutes outside that by the time i'd got everything working again!
It looked like a very entertaining line-up for the race, so I was a bit annoyed I missed it.....mind you I was thinking that I probably wouldn't have pb'd if I had raced, as I would have been in a totally different mood/mindset!! As it was, I channeled all my frustration into my off-line row!!
Hope to bet everything sorted out for the next race whenever that is!!

Results (so far) of the Aug Series 5k this week:
Will Haskell 926 points
Ant 920 points
Ernie 906 points
Tom B 900 points
Shannon 884 points
Still trying to figure out net times for:
Nick Gittings
Phil Morris
Jonathan Turns
Please post here if you know them...I will update the standings soon.
Seems like folks like the HC races, so lets try for a 6k HC this weekend. It will also give folks a chance to try to beat their earlier 6k time. I will set one up for Sunday.
Thanks everyone....Ernie

Hi Ernie
Sorry not posted sooner, have not looked at this site before.
My overall time including handicap was 22min 1.7 seconds. I was due to start at 3:54 however as I was distracted by children at the very beginning I pulled the first stroke on row, then having realised sat at 23m for the next few minutes. I started rowing at 3:57...to allow for my false start so reckon I was about 18:06 to 18:07 which was what I was expecting.
Hope that's what you need.
Regards
Jonathan Turns
