Duck pond
I'm famous! Just an article about the charity ride I'm doing Sunday, and I did my best to plug indoor rowing as great cross training for biking

It's too bad the big headline from p.2 on the paper copy isn't on the online one, which says STEIN ROWS TO STAY FIT. I hope some people see it and check out rowing!

Oh, it's not a race...but of course I'm trying to do better than last time. Thanks for the encouragement! It is actually easier to me than rowing a marathon. The hardest part is the 10 miles between 80 and 90 miles for some reason. Last year I really felt like quitting then. My legs were cramping, I was out of water and wasn't sure where the next rest stop was, and had been alone for 40 miles. It was such a relief to get to the last rest stop and see my husband, get some water and a snack, and know thatit was only 10 miles more. Also I was finally with a few other people again so it was easier and then it became a bit of a race for fun. The last 5 you are so happy to be finishing, suddenly you have a 2nd wind (or more like a 59th wind) and it really becomes fun again.
I think it's going to rain and rain hard tomorrw, and it's a rain or shine event...

Carole, it is so nice to see you...and yes, it has been a bit "dusty" hereabouts. I suspect it is the end-of-summer vacations/getting ready for school that has had everyone doing things IRL instead of on line. But presumably things will pick up a bit as we move toward Sept.
I see you've been out w/ your dogs...you're looking good! (Quite the inspiration...now I just need to follow along!)
Have a good Monday!

I am back from vacation and now know consider myself a rower that bikes instead of a biker that rows.
The Seattle to Portland went well. Two hundred miles is a long way to ride in one day. Our goal was to arrived in Portland before the beer garden closed.
I began my training today for the upcoming season. I have decided to try the Wolverine Plan and did a level 4 workout today. I hope to compete again in January at Ergomania in Seattle.
Hopefully as the season changes, the Women's Forum will get more traffic.
Happy erging everyone.

Arlene, Way to go on the StP. Did you actually meet your goal of the beer garden? Finishing that up definitely deserves a tall one!fish wrote:I am back from vacation and now know consider myself a rower that bikes instead of a biker that rows.

Hi Carole,
Great photo! It is very quiet on the forum these days. I know the nice weather makes we want to be outside, not in, and figure by the time it gets to being lousy weather I'll be excited about rowing again. Sounds like you have been doing well on your training!
Arlene, that is sooo cool, I can't even imagine 200 miles in one day. oof. I would need more than beer!

Ker-Splash!
The Buffle has been a very bad duck for some time now. Can't seem to get back into the swing of things. Unfortunately I'm back to the HW division.
I suppose I could blame the move - but I think it's just a bad case of laziness! It's good to see some familiar faces still out there. I hope I can get motivated to get back into rowing again. I know that I sure felt better last year when I was rowing on a regular basis. Right now, I'm way out of control and afraid that if I don't watch out I'll end up back where I was!!!
I hope everyone is having a good summer!
