New favorite rowing song - Snake Farm
Tough to beat Ray Wylie Hubbard's "Snake Farm" for those long slow pieces...

I put all 3 albums of the band called "bond" into my mp3 player.
They play classical instruments, but with a very catchy, upbeat rythm which is great for my rowing as well as my track work.

Eva Cassidy
My son just called...my Eva Cassidy "Live at Blues Alley" cd just arrived from Amazon.com... Along with my upgrade of Miles Davis "Birth of Cool" to replace the old now warped vinyl
I'll plug Eva in when I row tonight.
Going for RWH's SnakeFarm next.

Occasionally, I'll open the garage door, watch the neighborhood, and "zen out" to focus on my stroke rhythm and power. No music- just counting strokes.
Scout that's me most of the winter months. Open the garage door, leave the head phones in the house, take my extra ears out and watch the kids romp around the neighborhood. Summers, after convincing my wife to allow the erg inside, I'll use the headphones but on occassion, I'll slip in Xeno's rowing DVD, since you don't need the sound on, take out my ears and let the "softer" whoosh mimmick Xeno's splashes.

Youtube.com has some amazing songs.
I just happened to find this one today by TerraNaomi.
She started putting her songs on there and now has a cd out from those!
Here is one of them.

Music
Tangerine Dream "Live", "Rubycon", and others..
Pink Floyd "Shine on you crazy diamond"
Rabih Abou-Khalil "Blue camel" (and others)
Pharoah Sanders "Black Unity" - for 10 k rows.
for PB attempts: Some pieces by
Billy Cobham "Spectrum"
Deep Purple "Made in Japan"
....and so forth. Not all works. Some music that I usually really like, won't work at all with the rower.
Prefered row: Outside in the dark, with an alarm clock or family to tell when when time's up! And no music at all.

Heavy Grind
I usuallly like a very heavy "grind", typical of Stone Temple Pilots and Soundgarden, although my private, at home, taste runs toward classical and piano jazz.
