That would be great Krysta!!! Maybe I could see if our two would be interested in doing it and we can work on a "youth boat." Thanks! John.

Yes they could and they should, we would love to have them as part of the Eh!Team on the C2C challenge. It's nice to see them starting off rowing so young.

Our around the world row boat is slowly inching its way across
Australia. I imagine we will be "in" Sydney by the end of August. Remember every meter counts so enter your rows into your C2 log book whether it is 100 meters or 100,000 meters.

For those of you who are wondering what type of terrain we are rowing through, this picture may be worth a thousand words.

Keep on rowin', eh.

Krysta, you should enter your times as well. I see Jessie and Cole have entered theirs and they are excellent. Speaking from experience, the advice and support from the other team members posting to this discussion are fantastic. As well, having the monthly competition has proven to be an excellent incentive to push myself. If you look back throught the thread you can see how many of us have done personal bests in the last little while so I suspect this is true for the others as well.

Welcome Jessie and Cole, I am very excited to be able to watch your progress over the next years. This will be like watching and encouraging my grandchildren (although I don't expect a three week old to be posting for at least a couple of months).

Yes, I thought Jessie and Cole did pretty well, for their first tries at it. Cole has even been practicing since and might be entering a new time in the next few days. :)

As for me, I did throw some meters the Eh!Team's way back during the January team challenge (Yukon John is my brother-in-law) but I am a proud member of Taff Attack Racing. I agree that the active teams are great motivation. I just got back into town from holidays, so I still need to muster the courage to suffer through the 500m myself.

Shannon and John, it would be great if your kids want to do the 500m and then if anyone else on the Eh Team has a child who'd do the same, you would probably have the only full "kid's boat" in the CTC!

Krysta,

Santana wants to give the 500 a try "as long as she doesn't have to race!" I just asked Zeb and he said he wants to do it too! :D

25 million meters!!

Great rowin', hosers.

It has been a long slog across the outback of Australia, but we are almost half way around the world. Don't give up. Keep posting those meters.

Keep on rowin', eh.

Our daughter, Santana, who is 11 just posted a 500 metre result for the CTC - 3:03.2. Now we have two full boats. Anybody else have a willing child that would like to crank out a 500 for the team?

Congratulations on the 500 meters, Santana. And thanx for posting your time to the Eh!Team.

I tried the 500m challenge again today and started out way too fast. But I thought, what the heck, its only 500 meters, I can hang on. But guess what, I couldn't. Oh well. Maybe in another couple of days.

Mark Read has posted what I think is a PB for him and thrown down the gauntlet to me to catch him. Congratulations, Mark.

We are now in the nullArbour area of Australia. A little greek null = nothing, arbour =trees. So the "no trees" area. Once again a picture is worth a thousand words.

and you can read more about the Nullarbour plain

Keep on rowin', eh.

David, I see that you posted a cranking fast 500 - 1:29.1  :D !

That is super! I did it again today and got a tiny PB by one tenth. That gives me one whole extra nonathlon point!! :P

I wonder where Brigitte has gotten to this month. I know she could probably do the 500 at least 5 seconds faster than I could. Brigitte we need your long legs for this one!!

I just wound up the DF to 150 and went for it! The last 80m were a struggle as I went out at 1:28 pace but could only manage 1:32 pace for the last 100m. 26 extra points on the Nonathlon though! I think there's too much weight to the shorter events: you do a PB by 10 seconds for the 10K and get a whole extra point!
I couldn't believe I'd gone so fast, my wife was "cheering" me on.
Cheers

We have made into the state of South Australia and are just passing the "town" of cook.

This is a picture of the jail at Cook!

You can see more pictures here or by zooming in on the google earth file from the around the world row site.

Jim, that jailhouse has me a little shaken up. Rowing through Cook isn't illegal, is it?

I sure hope not!

I managed to get some teenagers off of the couch and onto the erg today. Out of the 10 of them, I got 3 to pull a 500 meters. I will post the times to the C2C challenge under the Eh!Team. If I can coax a few more of them to do it, we may actually get some more boats.

Keep on rowin', eh.

Jim, great to see the kids getting in on the action this month. We have a real youth movement going on with the team! Now that your speedy teenagers have posted their results, I'll see if Zeb wants to give 500 a shot. Then we will need just one more rower to fill our third boat!

Michelle, glad to see that you are in a boat for the CTC this month. It seems like a few of our regulars are missing from action this month. My little niece has done a 500 metre row for the team. It took her more than five minutes to do the distance, but she is only 5 years old, so I thought that was a good effort! So far we have had 4 cousins from our clan do the 500 metre ranking for The Eh! Team this month. :D
