July 5k

Post by JimC » August 2nd, 2006, 10:03 am

Did an 18:19.0 for the 5k on 31 July. Was more ambitious to start out but couldn't hold it. Still working back from a long break earlier this summer. Other distractions and my heavy yard work took much longer than I was hoping after my great trip to Europe. Maybe by the end of August I'll be closer to where I'd like erg-wise.

Larry,

I thought that you had all the pertinent data on a list. I also thought that our actual posting was superfluous, i.e. that you had access to our logbooks and would just be checking them at the end of each month.

Can you clarify this?

Bob S. M 80-84 ?wt at this time, i.e. right on the borderline. Over and under from one day (or even hour) to the next.

Bob,

We have not been examing the log books to date. I will ask Lisa for a listing of the Dev. Team with ages, weight class and performances. Thanks for your efforts and comments.

To Larry and Linda

I have a had time figuring out if my emails are going to the correct place or not. I will also put this July 5k score (taken in August) in the web log.

I took this in August because returned from a 2 week hiking trip on August 1st - and well - thought I could use a week to erg a bit before test. My other tests will be done by the end of each month.

5k in 19:53.3 at a 1:59.3 split

The main difficulty I felt was in the second half of the stroke -felt strangely weak. I think that was due to all that hiking and not using my upper body in that 'erg kind of way'. I think I'll do some bench rows over the next couple of weeks.

I was pointing for a 159 split with the hopes of having a score in the 158's by cranking it down in the last 2 minutes. As it was I cranked it down to a 159.3 in the last 2 minutes.

So now I'm psyched for the August piece -my fitness is decent I just have to get my erg mojo back!

5k August Test 18:01.7

Post by JimC » August 14th, 2006, 8:11 pm

Because of my vacation schedule, I did my 5k August test today even if only a short time after my 18:19. 1 July 31st test. Went for 18:00 and just missed it -- 8:57 halfway, 18:01.7 for the distance.
