Impressive work by all! PB's , CTC, WTMTM (way too much to mention  )

Trevor, I see that you have probably rowed boat II far enough away that I can't catch it this month.

I was on the erg Sat. morning, my warm up was done, and then the hay showed up. It showed up again today. After carrying bales up the rows to stack them it was enough of a work out for me (& family). Thank goodness we sold the sheep or there would be even more to do!

Cheers eh,

Congratulations every one. Great times. Back from vacation and I must confess I rather enjoyed being a slacker.
I'll cast my vote for the 30 minute for the July CTC
(2K is my second choice - I haven't tackled that since joining the Eh! Team and the CTC challenges).

So 30:00, it is. Yesterday I invited Brigitte to join me for a mellow 30:00 row online. I think she was trying to psyche me out!! She cranked out a PB by more than 200 metres!! :P Near the end I was paddling along at a sedate 2:26 pace while she was pulling 1:52's!!!

I guess I might just be destined to be in that #2 boat for the rest of the season!!

1:52 ! Brigitte, you were on a mission! :D
Save the best for next month challenge!

Shannon, there is nothing wrong with boat #2; I have found it quite enjoyable this month!

Shannon, I was really thinking hard about an excuse for this, andcould only come up with these two:
1. I must have passed out (since I don't even remember having rowed 1:52) and some Alien life form must have possessed me and rowed in my place (somewhat esoteric excuse, but the most plausible I have found). B)
2. Ok, if the first excuse doesn't work I can still come up with no. 2, the "psychological excuse": having been the youngest of 4 children I always had a hard time catching up with my little legs; so when the big kids started rowing yesterday, I just chased after them ... but I'm afraid the "little legs" excuse doesn't work anymore either.
Anyway I was very happy with the result, because I have just had 3 failed attempts at those evil 1k, where I always died miserably at the 800 meters mark. So it was good to look at the rankings and see "You are number 9 of 68"!!!! And I start to wonder if 7000 meters might be possible ...
I put on an online row at 18:00 tomorrow for 1 hour, really slow (I promise!). So if I haven't completely annoyed you and if you want to join in ... (it's the fist time I set up an online row, so I hope it will work).

LOL, no, just plain crazy, Francois! I will probably curse if I don't come even close to that next month for the ctc. But I would never have thought that I could get over 6800 meters when I started out just 4 months ago ... This erging is definitely addictive. They should put a label with a warning on it!

Well done on your 30 min piece Brigette. I wish I could pull 1:52's at the end of my 30 min!

The hay got finished yesterday so I did a 10,000 m "get the kinks out" row to-day. That put me over my 1st 1,000,000 m. :D
I guess I'll keep at, no sense only rowing part of the way around the world.

Cheers eh,

Brigitte
Brigitte,

I translated the metric height measurement in your sig into feet and I see why you can't claim to have "little legs," you are about 8 inches taller than I am . No wonder I have such trouble keeping up with you!! :?

I'll join you tomorrow for the hour row, it is always fun to have company on a row, even if they are miles ahead of you :P !

My goal for the 30:00 row will be to get 6,715 metres, my current PB is 6,516. That would give me 900 points on nonathlon, I believe. That is a big goal of mine to get as many 900's as I can on nonathlon, so far only the HM is over 900.

Congratulations on your first million meters, Kirk!!! There will be many more to come, I have no doubt. And thank you for your kind words, too!

Dave, I tried the water skiers thing, of course, but the erg always sank on the ground when I put it on the water. I must be doing something wrong ...

Shannon, thank you for the great row today! It's always so much more fun to have company, especially on the longer rows. Maybe we should do a HM online together, so you can put my little legs to shame!!! :) Actually erging is maybe the only kind of sports, where my size is not a disadvantage. I tried running years ago, but I was so slow that people walking were faster than me running, and I hurt my joints in the process. I'm glad to have found rowing! As for the Nonathlon: so far I have not yet managed to get a score over 900. My best is the recent 30 minutes with 899 points. Oh well! But I hope to get over 900 in a few this year.

Jim, I start to wonder if I have spoiled the Around The Wold database? Google Earth crashed two days ago while downloading the kml file, and afterwards there always was an error on the page like the file got lost. I hope I didn't ruin something ...

Happy rowing everyone!
Brigitte

Hey Brigette, thanx for pointing this out. I have been able to restore things. I will blame it on you for crashing things, but I really do not know what causes it to crash.

I have been working far to hard lately so I haven't had a chance to do a ton of rowing and keep an eye on the file.

I see everyone has made a great contribution to the row and done some outstanding personal times. Well done to all.

We are now past Singapore and en-route to the west coast of Australia.

I am looking forward to July's challenge.

Keep on rowin', eh.

Hi all!
I'd set myself a personal goal of 3.20 for the 1K and sworn that once I'd got there I wasn't going to do it again for a long time! Well I didn't manage to knock John out of boat 1 but almost died trying! 3.18.2 will be where my 1K PB sits for quite a while I think, as the last 400m were quite uncomfortable and the last 100m grossly unpleasant. I'm going to have to get much fitter before I move those goalposts again.
Kirk - 10K to "get the kinks out" certainly improved your Nonathlon ranking. We seem to keep see-sawing. It is good to have a (friendly) target.

Excellent 1,000m Dave! That's quite a chunk of time from your last go.

The improvement in the nonathlon score was on a previous 6K piece. It was more of a warm-up so was easy to improve upon. The rest are going to be tougher.
I see you moved ahead of me so it's time to get rowing again.
You know this is going to start to hurt don't you? :?

Cheers eh,

Congratulations Dave!
I know how it feels coming close to knocking John out of boat #1 and almost dying in the process! But don't worry, we will get our revenge next week on the 30 min! :D
