Mark, yet again you are putting words into peoples mouths.
Everyone has the right to question anyone. Why do I not question your 2K time? I will tell you why, because you are not claiming something that is an amazing feat for someone to achieve.
If you claimed a 2K time of 6.03 I would be ASKING QUESTIONS (not accusing you of cheating).
Being inquisitive and accusing someone of cheating are two different things.

Yes, but also:Chad Williams wrote:Why do I not question your 2K time?
Because it was done at a race!
Which, IN MY OPINION, is the only result that matters. The rest, because it's an honor system, are just for motivation, camaraderie, and personal challenge. Just my OPINION of course. So, my OPINION is also that it's fruitless and pointless to get one's panties in a wad over honor rankings. Go do a race and show your stuff ... venue race, RowPro race ... it doesn't matter. Just go race.
For example, all your talk about training and times is all background noise to me ... my opinion of course. It's like you are just an Internet discussion board ID to me until I see some result, for some race, for you, since I haven't met you or watched you row.
Just my way of looking at it.

Eric--
You've asked a resonable question in a reasonable manner. Perhaps the best way to get a reliable answer would be to ask one of the "Free Spirits" who has posted on his behalf. A PM rather than a public post might be a productive way to approach his teammates. That might be seen as less challenging that a question posted on the forum and might avoid the inevitable distractions and irrelevancies of internet disputes.
He is retired, but is 5 or 6 hours on the erg the fate of obsessive rowers? I hope not.

I have been rowing seriously on a Concept2 Machine since 1st Feb 2006.Since then have rowed 386,102 meters and from May 1st 2006 for Timbuktu a subsidiary or THE ANCIENT MARINERS,an elite rowing group, have rowed 154,102 meters which is an average of 12,825 daily with a projected Annual Total of 4,686,965 meters.I work full time as a Private Car Hire Driver taking people to and from UK airports 7 days a week and row in between my jobs.I am absoutely delighted to have been chosen to row for Timbucktu who have to be one of the greatest individual crews I have ever had the pleasure of rowing with even though I cannot see them or talk to them (other than by email).I have rowed in 4's,8's,single sculling boats and skiffs from 1961 to 1977 and often been in tight spots winning or losing by a canvas(3ft)but rowing with you guys of TIMBUKTU against the might of millions of other guys based all over the world on Concept 2 machines and trying to do the maximum meters when one is absolutely knackered has to be one of the most exhilerating experiences one could ever do in ones life.Thank you "its a pleasure rowing" with you all. nf963@yahoo.co.uk
His total meters for this season on that date were then 215,102
On June 17th, his description was gone (as it is today) and his total meters were then 3,224,486.
That's 88.5km per day for 34 days straight, assuming he decided on May 15th to row that volume from then on.
Based on that data, the huge jump in volume just doesn't look realistic in any way, in my opinion.

FYI:
Nigel posted 84,389 as his meters for the Summer Soltice Day rowing. Color me purple (that would be my real color if I rowed 2 FM in the same day - at least one or two parts of me would be bruised purple).

Anyone seen the said man race? Does he log any individual times on the rankings?
