Handicap Race on Supercanoa

Post by marilyn » June 5th, 2006, 3:26 am

Everybody is welcome:

3 Starttimes:

1. Saturday 10. June 15:00 GMT
2. Sunday 11. June 08:00GMT
3. still open

Interval: 30min

How to calculate your handicap?

Do you have a Besttime for the Season 2007?
1. Calculate your best pace by your 30min Season Best (Example: PB 6000 Pace: 2:30)
2. Convert it in seconds(Pace 2:30= 150sec)
3. Use the supercanoa Calculation tool by login. It Calculates the percentage you need to be faster to reach a pace 1:40 (100sec). In the example: Handicap 33
4. By login select the handicap (Example: Marilyn 33)

You don't have a Besttime for the Season 2007?
1. Calculate an aproximated pace by 30min and do the other steps

After your 1. Handicap race you will have a time saved
on supercanoa for the next handicap race

Then The boats will be rowing with the adjusted percentages (everybody around 1:40, if you maintain your Best Pace).
The winner will be the fastest boat after the 30min. No delays by the start. We start all together

If somebody was faster than 1:40 by 30min and he wants to participate, let me it know
I will adjust the paces

In other words, to win you need to be faster than yourself. Women can beat men. Old can beat young, etc.
After the race you can rank directly your time from Supercanoa to the Concept2 Ranking
(in case of a Best Season)

Depending of the number of participants, they can be grouped in a new race at other starttime. All races will be grouped for the results.

Suggestions for the 3. Starttime or for errors in my calculation are welcome.

Note: We will have the FIFA World Championships
this weekend, so please no starttimes when the games are running :)

Regards

Hi Marilyn,

Sorry, I cannot participate this weekend.

The US plays the Czech Republic tomorrow. Mexico is playing Iran as I type this as well as Mexico just scored a goal a moment ago.

I think it is hoped the US would have more enthusiasm for soccer, but it will probablly not happen since we have football. I think everyone would be excited if they won.

Hi Thomas

Great that you in USA are watching the games. Here is Munich is a big fever and a big party (Did you see our new stadium http://www.worldstadiums.com/stadium_me ... ianz.shtml?), you can see the games a big screens in the biergardens or another places. People from over the world (like by Supercanoa :) ) are in
Germany

Today I watched the game with USA, sad that you lost against Czech Republic but don't be pesimistic. The Czech Republic is a very strong time, one of the favorites. Maybe it can get better in the next game.
Ok, the next game is against Italy and this is another favorite. Who knows
with a little bit luck maybe you go to the 8. finals like in the last Championships.

What are your favorites? I like the NLD Team and Germany naturaly. I liked Ecuador too, I think they were playing good, coming from a smaller country. Let us see Italy vs. Ghana are doing.

Anyway I will try to adapt the Supercanoa Race Schedule to the games, and to the summer plan. The last race was fine. I think we will enjoy the handicap format. It was the 1. Race and I made some adjusts for the 2. one. I am happy that Berit won, we train together and I have the feeling she never sprints, allways the same speed without stress. In the race with Susan, I was impressed that she rowed more competitive, doing 3 points better than expected.

Marilyn,

Are you still planning on doing the 1K relay race on the weekend of June 24th? I was just wondering how that will work. I have never done a supercanoa workout, but would like to give it a try. I will be out of town for a few days, but when I get back, I'd like to get on board.

2x1KM Relay

Post by marilyn » June 18th, 2006, 4:07 pm

Hi Shannon

Sorry the delay, we took a summer break this week. Here is Munich was very warm and with the Soccer Championships it is crazy here.
All biergardens are full with big screens, nobody is at home watching the games, everybody is outdoors. Flags from many countries, turists, etc.

Whatever, tomorrow I will post more informations about the relay.
We have done ready relays in the past. We make pairs with different
PB's for 1KM, the sum of both PB's should be similar for all the pairs (teams)

When both rowers in the pair are very fast, they have a handicap of 10sec for example

How is the race: For example: 2 pairs are at the start (4 rowers). Only 2 rowers
start from 2 different teams after the countdown. First when you see that your partner is at the finish lane, you start to row. The team winner is the fastest team. It is fun.

You don't need to find a partner yourself, I only need to know that you are participating and I can try to find a partner for you. We can have problems with the starttime, if your partner cannot start at the same time as you, but this is the logistic that we have to prepare

I hope many people can find 5min this weekend for the race.
Anyway you should be registered and with a test prior to the race.
It avoids delays, etc

Regards
