You've joined a great group. I'm rowing more now after joining Ducks In A Row than I ever did before. Have fun!

Quick landing in the pond!

Post by Bufflehead » May 6th, 2006, 10:07 am

Ker-splash!!!

Hi Ducks! Thanks for starting this thread back up, Carole. I thought it was about time that I checked in with everybody.

The first part of the "migration" is over. I closed on my condo in MD on Wednesday, and I'm now in limbo. I'm temporarily homeless. I'm staying in one of those extended stay hotels until it's time to fly south!

My C2 is in a POD somewhere between here and SC. I sure hope it makes it okay. I wanted to transport it in my car, but there just wasn't room. I wrapped the PM3 parts in bubble wrap and shrink wrapped the whole thing together. I hope it makes it in one piece, because I'm really ready to get back into the swing of things and start adding meters for the Ducks! No more slacking for me! I'm not gonna let some of you Ducks pass me up so easily this season. So - when I get settled in SC I expect to get some prodding from some of you!

I hope everyone is doing well. I have missed keeping up with this forum. Congratulations to all of you! I see a lot of Ducks have met some big goals.

Hoping to join you soon!
Ye Olde Buffle

When do you expect to be settled and rowing again? It took me almost 6 months to get rowing again after we moved (but we were doing a lot of home renovations). Just let us know when you need prodding. I know how hard it can be to get an exercise routine going when you're trying to get settled in a new home.

Are meters rowed posting to "Ducks in a Row"??

Post by staylor13 » June 6th, 2006, 8:29 pm

Hi fellow ducks - - if you have created a personal log and log your meters online and have chosen affiliation with a team (Ducks in a Row!) do your meters automatically post to the team, or do you have to do something? I joined a couple of weeks ago, and I am up to 79,660, but I'm not sure they are posting to the team. Anyone know??

Hi Sally!

I'm not a Duck, but glad to help! If you've entered your afiliation in your on-line log, then they do automatically post to your team. I checked, and yours are on the DIAR team page! (Team members are listed by the number of meters they've rowed, so just scroll down as needed to find yourself!)

To get to this page go to your on-line log, then to the box in the upper left corner of the page with bulleted "Quick Links". Click on "University/Club Standings" there, which will take you to this page. Find your team's name and click on the number to the left of it's name. That takes you to your team page!

Thanks Allisa for the response! I'm not doing too bad for only rowing a month! Pat myself on the back! :D

The Buffle emerges!

Hello fellow ducks! I'm all done migrating and I'm now busy getting the nest all prepared. My C2 made it to SC with only a few minor scratches. Whew! I finally gave it a try the other night, and it still works great. Great product you have out there Concept2!!

I'm looking forward to keeping up with all you ducks. Looks like I have a lot of work ahead of me! Hmmmm - maybe I need to change my name to one of the ocean ducks. Just kidding! I still like the Bufflehead ducks best.

I see lots of new faces in the Pond! Keep up the good work. Grams - I'm glad to see you're with us. Well, just thought I would drop in to say hello.

The Buffle

Hey Buffles!

Glad you landed in your new nest, all safe and sound! How's that new knee doing?

I've been slacking on the forum entries, mainly due to busy-busyness. To add to that, like a crazy woman, I decided to go for my graduate degree, so that will keep me plenty busy, too. I'll need to keep rowing just to keep my sanity intact. Sanity? What sanity??

And I'm just a tad shy of getting my second million erging career meters. After today's row, I only need about 6700 meters more, and I've got it. I might even get ambitious and try to get that added on tonight.

I need to get back more into this forum, because y'all have been such an inspiration to keep me rowing. I haven't lost any more weight--still stuck at that same ol' 40 pounds--but I hope to change that, so I can get rid of the fifty more I have yet to lose.

Anyway, welcome back to the ol' Pond, Buffles! I'm glad to splash back in here, too.

Great to hear you are all settled and ready to row, Buffles!

I just popped in here to tell you guys about a charity event I'm taking part in . It's for a group called Emmaus Inc., that helps homeless folks get job training, gives them a place to stay, and helps them with their job searching. They also provide low income housing and guidance and are really doing a great job helping these people get out of homelessness and on with their lives.

The event is a Century bike ride on 7/23. Some people are sponsoring me by the mile or by the hour (it's 100 miles and should take about 6 1/4 hours if I make my average speed goal) or, if you are in a silly mood, per pedal push (about 30,000!) You can find out more about it at:

http://www.firstgiving.com/CarlaStein

Rowing all winter on the C2 really put me in great shape for biking. I am training with a small group and though I've only been out on my bike the same number of times, my training is much farther ahead. So anyone that likes biking, remember that next winter!

We are back from our trip to Hawaii with our granddaughter. Thanks to my erg my lungs are in great shape and I never ran out of breath when snorkeling/swimming/hiking

We are off across the pond in 10 days to a cousin's 50th wedding anniversary party. Hopefully I can locate an erg in the several places in England where we will be. Its wonderful for working out the 9 hour flight kinks.

Recently I knelt down (not anything special) and something in my knee complained mightily. Time to get the whole thing fixed, so I have scheduled my knee surgery for September. The doctor says my erg will be perfect for the post-op rehab. One guy on the forum actually got his 'free' because his doctor wrote him a prescription for a C2. Unfortunately I already have the latest model.

So, my erg habit comes in handy for several 'keep fit' scenarios. I'm about to pop my new Hawaiian cd into the player and take a virtual tropical paddle in the surf on my erg for a bit right now.

Welcome back grams! Did you get a chance to paddle out there in the big surf?
