Model E

I agree with having balance capability like the RowPerfect, and adjustable back legs.

I moved my erg to the other side of the garage tonight, reorganizing in the process.

In the process it occurred to me that the change in slope from B to C was a mistake and the erg was really intended to be level.

This occured as a reminder from, when first seeing the model C, it looked like it was broken in two parts. Thus perhaps the connection that was supposed to hold the erg level went down more than intended, and once C2 made the part and being in a rush, they didn't want to take the trouble to make a small adjustment and get it right.

It remains to be seen if this was "really" the case, but I can imagine it was, similar to when they made the 21097 into "not quite" a half marathon, though this was pointed out to them by quite a few forum participants at the time.

The idea is that you literally can't get up from the erg again unless/until you've rowed your target meters or time...

the only thing that i would like to see on the model E that's not on the D is a return to the style of seat form the model B as this feels more like that you find in a boat.

If the E were quieter than the D, I'd want to be able to modify it for more sound. Frankly, I was a little disappointed in how quiet my Model C was after working out on Bs at the gym, way back when. The roar is gratifying to me. Great feedback. Then again, I probably row at a fraction of the intensity, and a fraction of the volume, than you all do.

I'd love a monitor with a user-settable time before shutoff. Even a toggle would be good — say, "energy saver," like the current timing, and "extended," which would keep the monitor live for 20 mins or so after the last activity. Maybe the PM3 allows this? I have the 2.

Currently using the Model C with PM2+ monitor, so forgive me if the suggestion is already in the new model D with PM3.
It's about the monitor batteries. Need to replace them every two months or so. In a period of two months I row about 30 hours, producing roughly 6000 Watts. The suggestion is therefore:

Shouldn't it be possible to use a small part of all the energy put in to recharge the batteries

Jaap
From the description of the PM3 and Model D rower:

"The Model D includes a power generation feature, which greatly extends the life of the PM3’s batteries (two D batteries) by providing operating power to the PM3 while you are rowing."
--------------------------------------------
[/quote]

As with most hardware, I'm always a generation behind. The suggestion then becomes:

Maybe model E can output the rest of the energy into an external battery recharger? Such a waste to see the 3000 Watt/month fly away.

Jaap

Jaap-

You're right about recapturing the energy and the PM3 does this to a degree. However, your PM2 is burning through batteries faster than it should. You might want to contact C2.

Neil

Noticed that switching on the light in the same room where PC and erg are located, will activate the display. Same happens if the refrigirator starts cooling. PC doesn't even need to be powered on.
Will try to see the effect of disconnecting the erg from the PC after each training/internet race. It's good to know that two months does not seem to be normal, so thanks for the input.
Jaap

A PM2+ connected to a PC will drain the batteries. When you are finished rowing, you should disconnect the PC from the PM2+. I get about 400 hours of rowing time from a set of batteries if I disconnect when not in use.

Paul Flack
