Here's hoping that release 2.001 brings back more activity on the RowPro race server. It's been very quite lately. I've checked out recent results and participation has been low.
The sad part is that regardless of the workout distance not many seem to be erging at under 2.00 pace. For me that's a waste of time. No challenge and no fun can be had at that sort of pace. Broadcast view helps a bit but not enough to keep me interested in a lonely race. Where has everyone gone?
Perhaps the low activity is due to the Northern Hemisphere warmer months approaching, drawing people outside away from their ergs.

I have been scheduling 3x2K intervals on RowPro Tuesday nights for 4-5 weeks now with really low participation. It's usually just me and one other guy..
The problem during the week seems to be the difference in time zones.. Most of the activity on oarbits seems to be be 16:00-18:00 GMT which is just way to early for people in North America.

People have reported problems with 2.001. I did the upgrade and it seemed to work, although my online QR as a test did not have saved results.
I don't know why online rowing has dropped off so much since Feb. I wondered if more rowing is taking place on Supercanoa so we are seeing less on RP. I don't really understand how Supercanoa works and haven't tried that, although I did register. Right now there is so little scheduled that there really isn't much for anyone to pick from at any pace. I am happy to see more women and more rows at a slow pace, since I think that should just expand the options for everyone.
Roland, you are one of the very fastest rowers out there, so there are only a few RP users (Andreas, Jaap, etc) who can really row with you. The racing series seemed to help with encouraging more rows. I hadn't suggested it, in part because I am hardly rowing now, but if you or Frank or anyone else wanted to suggest it, I think it would be a good idea.
In the past it was the weekends that had a variety of races during the day, starting with you and others in the early GMT times, going through the bulk of the day. So I really do miss seeing different options for Sat/Sun, but I am also to blame, since I haven't scheduled one myself in months either.

John's 2k PB for 2006 season: 7:29.2 = 247 W
Roland's weight: 88 kg
John's weight: 65 kg
Roland's watts/kg ratio: 419 W/88 kg = 4.76 W/kg
John's watts/kg ratio: 247 W/65 kg = 3.8 W/kg
John, by your favorite metric for asserting the superiority of lightweight rowers over heavyweight rowers, you get soundly trounced by Roland. For that matter, his W/kg ratio for a half marathon (73:37.4, 3.5 W/kg) is nearly what you manage when you only have to cover a bit less than 10% of the distance. This comment of yours is reminiscent of your ridiculous potshot at Xeno's FM time, done at a pace better than your best ever 2k!

The cycling season started and this is keeping me off the erg. In the weekends I assist on saturdaymorning in giving training to a group of 10-14 year old MTBikers and each sunday morning I go with a group of 20-30 men for a 80-90km "tour". Since the only suitable time to row for us in the same race is in the morning here (e.g. GMT 7:00 or 8:00) I don't see any possibility in the next months.
But also if I could row with you, your race would be a lonely one. Last saturday afternoon I did an all out 10k which brought me just under the 36 min.
Looking forward to pick up serious erging again next fall.

I would be interested in regular 3 X 2K workouts at 8 GMT (either Sat or Sun) as Polaco suggested. It's a shame Jaap will be busy for a while but others like Hennie, Pieter & Andreas might join in. I could let another fast Aussie Phil Hoare know about it. Even if some of us only did some of them it would still be worthwhile. I haven't raced with version 2.001 yet so I hope its OK.
Johnny Rupp, who has never raced online, could put his money where his mouth is, purchase RowPro and join in. Then he could use one of his biased to skinny old men grading systems to work out the actual results. Or he could devise a formula to calculate my result down to a 65 year old 105 pound woman and his time to a 7 foot 9 inch man. But I think this type of argument on this forum has been visited many times before.
Lets get some sessions going on RowPro.

Then he could use one of his biased to skinny old men grading systems to work out the actual results. My 2k isn't as good as yours, but I hope to manage well under 2:00 pace
Since I have rowpro, I only have managed to do 1 proper online race, and have many problems (either competitors or me being gray, and not being able to post on the chat)
I also could be up for some rowing late in the evening during the week (22:00 Spanish time, not tuesday, that's otw-day)

Rowpro 2.002 is out !
This version is mainly to fix two issues in 2.001:
- In 2.001 there is a bug in the network level of Internet Racing that can interfere with the sending of any packet. This bug produced a wide range of weird issues in 2.001, all of which will now be gone again in 2.002.
- Also in 2.001 we put a check in to reject occasional bad data from the PM2+ due to electrical interference. Unflrtunately this check was made too tight, so if you had a period of not rowing during a split, the average pace for the split was low enough to fail the check. This problem is now gone in 2.002.

2.002 problem
Well the only time I tried to set up a row online with 2.002 it identified me with some other user's name! I tried emailing DigitalRowing about it but they never replied.
But for others in this world Mr Roland, like myself, it wouldn't be a waste of time, would be a challange and would be fun. So apart from stroking your own ego (pun intended), was there any other point you were trying to make? Is this forum not for all-comers, for providing encouragement ... especially to those not as good as yourself, who are in places where it's not so easy to find opportunities to erg with others in person?
