Yep, rowin' and ralphin' sounds good for us hosers.

In the meantime we are passing through the Rajasthan state of India. That city to the north of our path is Kota. http://dreamvacation.indiatourism.com/r ... -kota.html

Seems to be mainly an industrial city, but take a look at some of these sights.

Keep on rowin', eh.

Good 5K Rob! You're making it harder to stay in boat 2.

I did an aerobic workout tonight. I'm hoping to deepen the aerobic base for future attempts.

Cheers eh,

Excellent row Rob :) Now I have massive incentive to better my time, substantially, to stay in boat two. Less cake and more effort will be needed. And a new body would help. Does anyone know a source of after market add ons like you can get for your car?

Thanks Kirk and sorry Trevor.

It was actually a new PB too, by 4 secs. I suprised myself. Although I'm still not running due to an achilles problem I've not erg'd for about two weeks. The unseasonally hot May weather here in Calgary (33C on Tuesday this week) has seen me out and about on my bike.

Anyway, I got on the C2 last night and wanted to do a 20 min 5k, but I felt good in the last 2k so just went for it :)

Congratulations Rob for this new PB!

I hope you'll be able to resume your running soon. In the meantime enjoy the nice weather outside. You are quite lucky! Here, it has been raining for the past 10 days, and today it is only 9C, with rain, of course! I've never seen anything like that!
I am still surprised that my daughter, who is rowing on water at 5:00 AM every weekdays, doesn't complain about the weather and looks forward to the next workout. Either rowing on water must be a lot of fun, or rowers have thick skin :!:

Congrats on the new PB, Rob.

I haven't had the guts to try the 5k again yet. Maybe next week.

Keep on rowin', eh.

I'd like to introduce and welcome Krystyna, my better half to the team. It's great to have a workout partner, and it means I get to spend more time on my bike!

Cheers eh,

Welcome to the Eh Team Krystyna! You'll have to make sure to tie Kirk down the the erg once in a while :) . Actually, I shouldn't talk as I've been doing a fair bit of biking myself. Yesterday was the first day that was somewhat warm around here (16 and sunny.) Nothing like your 33! I've only been able to go out without gloves twice. Hopefully some warmth will be here to stay. At least we haven't had the rain like Francois has seen. That's impressive that your daughter is up and rowing at 5:00! Has she been rowing long?

Rob, great job on your 5k. I'm still a bit gun shy of it right now, but I hope to do another one before months end. The last I heard they are debating between doing a 1k or some type of interval workout for June. I'm hoping it's a 1k since the hard work can be translated into a ranking (and maybe some pb's?)

Welcome Krystyna. Wow, 33! Not even that warm in North Carolina. It cooled off a little here - about 27 C. Sounds like Kirk should let you have the bike sometimes... Or you could get a RowBike. Never saw one of those in person - just on the web (http://www.rowbike.com/concept2.html).
Now if they made a RowBike that floated, we could really row around the world - though some of those mountains might present a challenge.
I guess we could just have to tough out the uphills and then get the row-ski attachment for the downhills.

She started last fall with the Ottawa Rowing Club. At first she was only sweeping on an 8, but this spring she is mainly sculling on a quad.

What is equally impressive, is that her father wakes up at 4:30 to drive her to the boathouse, then comes back home, does 75 minutes on the erg, has breakfast and then goes for an hour of swimming with the Masters! :D

Welcome to the Eh!Team, Krystyna. Nice to have you aboard.

Remember to post your meters to your C2 logbook and they will automatically show up in our around the world row. Every meter counts.

Keep on rowin', eh.

Impressive indeed!!!

Here's the, I'm Not Going To Race Today Cheesecake recipe (dedicated to Trevor!)

1 cup graham wafer (cracker) crumbs
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup melted margarine or butter

9 oz. cream cheese
2 eggs
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla

2 cups sour cream
1/2 tsp. vanilla
5 Tbs. sugar
1/8 tsp. cinnamon

Mix crumbs, b. sugar and melted margarine. Press on bottom and sides of a 9 inch pyrex pan. Bake 5 minutes at 350 degrees.

With a mixer, whip the cheese, add 1/2 cup sugar, eggs and vanilla. Beat well. Pour over crumbs. Bake 20 minutes at 325 degrees.

Mix sour cream, vanilla, sugar and cinnamon. Spread on pie carefully. Bake 5 minutes at 325 degrees. After it cools, refrigerate for at least 2 hours (over night is best.)

Back on the road again for me. Work this time.
I think the hotel I am staying at has a C2 machine, so I should be able to put in a few kliks. I hope the machine is a fast one, so I can try another 5k challenge.

Keep on rowin', eh.

grips

I can share my experience for what it's worth.
I ended up buying some New Grips (http://www.newgrip.com/rowing.html). I can't say I'm a big fan of them and I don't still use them but they helped me get over the hump and I know they're available if problems flare up again. And I focused more on making sure I was keeping my fingers loose - I really already thought I was but I was extra vigilant. And I experimented with slightly different grips and with deliberately changing my grip just slightly while I was rowing (just for a little variety). And I also found that the grip I am most happy with is a grip where my pinky fingers are completely off the handle (I have a Model C straight handle - I'm not sure which one you have) - so that I'm not using my pinkies at all - which seemed to eliminate the soreness on the outside of the hands. But I still pull with the pinky fingers sometimes while I'm changing my grip a little.
Dan,

I too have been having some trouble with some pain in one of my fingers. The doctor said it was likely a tendon injury, and suggested rowing with gloves. That proved to be quite hot, and didn't make through an entire workout. I followed up and got a pair of new grips which arrived yesterday. They made it through this morning's workout and the fingers felt well cushioned, although things were definitely a lot more slippery, and I can see why you might not be a big fan.

Thanks for the tip.
