Another question

I have been hitting the backstop on the finish when I straighten my legs. Is this a problem in my technique, I'm tall (a shade under) 6'1", but not unusually.

Thank you all again for your tips.

Are you sure you are hitting the backstop? I am 6' 1 and don't think I come close althought I have honestly never looked. I will next time though. I'm pretty sure I have seen some posters on here in the 6' 5" range and I would think that C2 would allow for that. Now you got me wondering.

Check to make sure that you don't have something hanging down in back - like a shirt tail. This has happened to me on a few occasions and it felt like I was hitting some sort of stop. The all time erg record holder is 6'9".

Tinmansteve,

I checked last night and at the end of my recovery, I still have approximately 6 inches left before I would hit the backstop. Since we are the same height, either your leg to torso proportions are much different than mine or I have no idea what is going on. Do you have like a 39" inseam  Are we talking about a model D?

I'll check

If anything my torso is slightly long, I'll ask someone to watch me. And as I said, curiously, it only seems to occur when I'm tiring.

The only time I've ever been able to do that is when I lean as far forward as I can while sticking my butt out behind me, do you still hit even when your laying back at the finish?

Theres a freshmen on my team that is 6'6 and he hits the back. I think they are ordering him a new slide. You definetly have to check why your hitting the back.

hitting the back

Thanks for the replies everyone. Apparently it happens when I'm tired and get lazy (bad form) on my return. I'm bending over while I'm still at the back of my stroke pushing my buttu out, before I bend my legs.
