New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
New (by virtue of being my first attempt at this distance) PB for 500m
1:30.7 @ 38spm, DF=139
The new stroke is definately producing a lot more power than the old one.
Rowan,
Glad you enjoyed the 2k video, my next 2k time trial is next Sunday, and is the last of my current training cycle. I'll video it and post a link. I'm going to pace for 7:10, hopefully a little more controlled pacing than last time. You are correct, it was painful at the end.
Cheers
Marc

Congratulations Dougie! Huge improvement! Any particular stroke rate or damping factor that were instrumental in this big improvement?Citroen wrote:New 5K PB 18:22.8 (-18.9secs)
BTW, you have just passed Yukon John, one of our fellow member on the CTC, but he is going to strike back!
Cheers!

I got a quick start, struggled between 1000 and 500 to go.tennstrike wrote:Congratulations Dougie! Almost 2 full seconds reduction in your pace. Wow.Citroen wrote:New 5K PB 18:22.8 (-18.9secs)
Did you hold 1:50 all the way or pull down at the end?

Wow, Dougie, great row. Although early in the season, that should be top 10% for a 40L for the season (it was in 2006 at least). Sub18 is not out of the question, and is my new long term goal.
Your pacing though does seem odd. I would think you would be faster negative splitting a 5k. You could go out at 1:50 or so for the first 3k, and then bring it down from there. I can't imagine holding on like you did after going out so fast.

Good solid comeback on the last 500. That's the toughest, the not giving up after it has just become too much for a little while. Again, WELL DONE!Citroen wrote:

ok, i know this is not really a PR, but this is still in my book one.
last month I had a very nast sinus/lung infection. to say the least it really messed up my lungs... still recovering from it.
approx 2 weeks ago I had a 2k erg test. i got a 6:58.6. i was terribly dissapointed in myself for that time.
today we had our last 2k erg test of the season and it was a really awesome one. my time today was 6:49.2. a little under 5 seconds slower than my pre-infection PR. (6:44.4)
anyways, i thought that I would share that little bit.
p.s. my goal was just to get under 6:50 today. and i did, by almost a second. yay!

Hey, that was the last PB of mine that you had yet to beat! No, wait, you still have to do a 100k pieceancho wrote:Just finished my 5k for the CTC.

Great row! Based on my 5x1k experience the other day, I don't think I'll be beating you over 5k by the end of the month - or even the end of the year!
Rowing at midnight - isn't that a little close to dinner time?

The nice thing about rowing after supper is that you ocasionaly can "retaste" what you have been eating
eyespliced: "you ade a modster!!
