Great job Brian! That was wickedly fast!
Our boat has made a big surge forward, and is now in 7th position!

Cheers!

Wow, Brian and Francois, you guys are amazing!!! Excellent times. Francois, you mentioned before about not going full blast on this attempt. With a time like that, you've got me wondering??? Now, we only need one more person to do a 5k and we'll have two boats full! :D If I hadn't of done a hard bike ride yesterday, I would have seen if I could have improved my time today (you got me motivated!) Maybe in a couple of days.

Rob, Well done breaking through the 40 min barrier. It's 1 of my goals to get through each of the ranking distances.

Brian & Francois, nice 5Ks. And these are you warm-up attempts guys?

I tried a more conservative pacing and did much better. I fell off the pace near the end, but I didn't need to stop.
19:47.9 with a 1:58.5 target.
Next time!

Cheers eh,

Congratulations Kirk for your PB!
Proper pacing makes a world of difference.

My 5k this morning wasn't exactly a "warm-up", but rather a hard workout! I started at 1:51, and consistently increased the pace. The last 1000m were done at 1:46. Two years ago I did 18:07 at 29 spm, and I was pulling hard. This morning row was at 27 spm and the handle felt light, so this is quite encouraging!

Shannon, it was great to row with you and Priscilla last Friday! :D Although I was dead afterwards (so who was killing who??? ). The funny thing is that I didn't even notice that it was a new PB for me too until I looked it up later. RowPro didn't save the time because I'm still on the trial version. Seems like I have to buy it ... I'm looking forward to our row on Monday. I hope I will be back from work in time.

Chris, isn't it wonderful to see how us newbies can improve with almost every row when we just start out on something new? I'm sure you will be at your 2:05 goal in no time!!!

Brian and Francois, wow, you guys are rowing awesome times! Our boat really made a huge jump forward! Maybe Shannon or me can help make a tiny hop forward on Monday ...

Rob, congratulations on breaking the 40 minutes!!!

Jim, there wasn't much information on the German page about Kerman. One of the funny things I found on the Wikipedia site was, that the province Kerman is also called Germania, "which means bravery and combat" (quote)

John, 1:27 at 49 s/m !!! I feel dizzy just thinking about it ...

Kirk, great new time on the 5k! I noticed too that more conservative pacing works better in the longer distances, and to increase the speed just on the last splits. If I start out too fast I usually slow down too much on the last meters.

Dan, you are missed in our ctc boats!!! Hey, where are all you strong, fast-rowing guys? Roberto? Allan? ...?

I got in my new best 60 minutes row yesterday with 13125m. I had hoped to go over 13000, but was doubtful if I could do it. I'm amazed that I could keep up that pace (2:17,1) for such a long time. It's even faster than my best 10k.

Happy rowing everyone!
Brigitte

Great job on the 5K's guys!! Francois, you've got John all psyched up to do another 5K, after he saw your great time!

Brigitte, tomorrow's row will be tough, but I hope we can both shave a few seconds off at least. I hope you get back from work in time.

Great job on the 60:00 row too! One of my goals for this year is to get over 13,000 on 60:00. I have 12,811 as my PB right now. If you get the RowPro software, we should try one of those online! Then we would really be dead!!!

Excellent rowin' everyone. Too many great rows and new PB's too laud everyone but well done to all of you. Also great rowin' to those of you who are just pulling on that chain and moving that Eh!Team boat around the world, every meter counts.

It would be great to see a few more rowers in the C2C challenge boats. One more rower will fill our 2nd boat and give our first boat more points.

As most of us, I have been extremely busy at the shop so not a whole bunch of time to concentrate on nice 5k row. I may get a chance over the next week to try and shave a few seconds.

Keep on rowin', eh.

I will definitely be there. Though I can't imagine squeaking into Boat 1. I rowed this weekend but I wasn't up for a fast attempt - my back was recovering from a day of working in the yard, shovelling a truckload of mulch. But I definitely want in on all this excitement. By this weekend, at the latest. At this rate, we may even be starting a third boat this time.
Great efforts, everybody. Really exciting to be a part of this.

Hi,

Brigitte and I got together for our 5K row online and we both posted big improvements! :D

I managed to take 20.5 seconds off my CTC time and 17 seconds off my PB, so I was very happy. Since Brigitte made big improvements too, I am no closer to making the first boat  , but that's OK. I think that having the challenge of trying to make that first boat is making me go faster!

Hi Shannon, that was a great row!!! I got 17 seconds off my PB from last week too, and I'm more than happy. Even though I huffed and puffed like a steamboat after the race, stumbled over the USB cable because I was too weak to lift my feet and managed to shut down RowPro that way  . Us Ladies did a great job, if I may say so! ... now it's your turn again, Gentlemen!

Congratulations Shannon and Brigitte! 17 seconds is a big improvement!

I think this RowPro is addictive! Just make sure you don't turn every workout into a race, as your body needs to recover. Also, to sustain future improvements, one should invest in aerobic base building.

The next boat is 6.6 sec ahead of us. So we need to collectively make a 33.5 sec (6.7 x 5) improvement to pass them. I am sure we can do it, eh!

Cheers!

That is a great improvement ladies. Well done!

I will try and shave a few seconds later this week.

Keep on rowin', eh

Done Jim.

I rowed an easy 5k (20:19) as part of an easy 8k row this evening.

I'm going to try and do a "fast"5k later in the week, but I doubt I'll make the first boat :)

Great to see you in the boat Rob!! Already the second boat has more points than last month!

Francois, have you had a chance to talk to your swim buddy to see if he is interested in joining us on our voyage around the world (CTC too?)

Brigitte and Shannon, great job on making those huge improvements in your times! Brigitte has thrown down the gauntlet guys, I guess we better keep moving :D . That's what's nice about getting your row done, you can make life hard on everyone else as you kick back in the hot tub. :P

Congrats to Brigitte & Shannon on the PBs. HUGE improvements. I won't be trying to go quicker 'til next week. My last two times on the erg were all out, it's time for some aerobic work ( a la Francois).

I see Rob's filled & floated our second boat, maybe three?

I'm going to try the online RowPro eventually. Does it work with dial up?
