Thanks to all. I've been lurking about the forum for weeks trying to decide. My Model D will arrive on Wednesday. I never rowed until trying it at a health club. What a workout! I rowed for 30 minutes that first time and really felt it the next day. I'll be using it to keep / enhanced my fitness as I'm primarily a road cyclist.

You're gonna love that new D And welcome to rowing! I was addicted from the first time at a health club also, can assure you it just gets better and more fun to see what you can do. 30 min is a good workout straight away. Enjoy I gave up the club and bought a D also, soooo glad I did

Keep doing easy 5k's until you feel the urge to do some intervals. I treat it just like the bike in spring, I just do easy steady rows for 3-4 weeks about this time of year before the holiday challenge and "real rowing" starts.

Once you start doing some interval training and have a good feel, try a timed 2k all out. Greetings.
I have had a erg since 1986. I started with a, I think, B. Maybe it was a A. I sold it. Had a couple more. Have had my C for 10 years. I can't say I have used them all the time. Somtimes they collected dust. But, as I am getting older. Will be able to join AARP next year. I am going to spend some quality time with my erg. My ? is the New D worth moving up too? And what is a reasonable selling price for my C. Thanks and Regards

Considering the new PM3, handle upgrade, the new color scheme and the redesigned flywheel the "D" model worth the sacrifice of selling your 10 y.o. "C" model. They sell on e Bay for about $600.00, if in good condition.

anomad,

Thanks for the analogy. I'm experimenting, not do things by the book I guess. I did an hour on my Computrainer moderate pace then did a 500m sprint on the D in 1:47.4. Wow, what a combo! I will calm down now before I hurt myself but I really love the D.

Richard, Go for the D I am 52 and still plugging away at it, I got my new D one month ago, considering what you can sell the C for, it would be worth it. I like the PM3 a lot, handle is good, quieter is good, all in all it's gonna last you for the rest of your life. As with all, ya still gotta pad up the seat some, ya know I only hope they dont come up with some really snazzy new thing and I will want that one I hope to have my D 'forever'

Wow! They must sell a lot of these rowers! I got my C2D a little over a week ago. I had been using the one at the gym, but it was getting tricky to do the 10Ks without getting bumped off. I love it!

I'm hoping to learn a little more about doing the longer distances - I want to shoot for a marathon before the season is over. I must be nuts! My problem is that I can't seem to maintain a decent pace - especially if I stop for a short break. I never can make up the lost time. I guess I'll just be happy if I can finish!

SueM

i just got my rower. i ordered it on monday evening and it's already here. the salesman at one of the stores told me it would take 6 weeks. i guess he just wanted me to buy one from him for 200 more.
i don't know much about rowing, besides that i like the motion and the fact that it's not a treadmill. anything special in getting started? besides not pushing it too hard at first. i can tell a good half hour session is going to leave me sore, and i lift weights 5 times a week.
