Hi. I'm just getting back into rowing and this has been my first week on the erg since college and law school. Yesterday I did 4x15 and tried to keep my average split around 1:56.

I'm looking forward to getting back in the rowing community and having you inspire me to get off my butt and, well, back on my butt.

-Jamie

Carl,

How do you arrange your weight sessions around rowing sessions?

Do you always do weights after rowing, or sometimes before.

Weights I always do hard, if I do them (unless injured or cutting nr of sets short due to time restraints). If the erging is a low intensity session then I do weights before. 4x1k followed by bench press is something I've done. What I do first depends on what my goal with that days training is.

Pretty good, that extra 50 points over me certainly helps you out.

Johnny,

Feeling pretty crappy at the moment. 1:58 might not seem too bad to you, but I can assure you I was not having a good time rowing it. At least I didn't give up, which I was very tempted to do (more than once) in the last ten minutes.

Just had a look at our Nonathlon scores. Interestingly, we have exactly the same score for 5K, and I score higher for all the shorter distances, while you score higher for all the longer distances. I suppose this is to be expected when your background includes a lot of running and aerobic work, while my background was basically lifting weights to get bigger, with no aerobic work at all.

Hopefully, it will be easier for me to improve on the longer distances than it will be for you to improve on the shorter ones. I am enjoying our little competition and I will boost my nonathlon scores across the board once the BIRC is out of the way, so you will need to keep pushing your PB's...

I will have to as I am not going to do much on the short pieces so I have to get better at the longer stuff.

However I do have a not so secret weapon up my sleeve. As you know, I am bordering on the lwt division and I have a johnnybikelwt entry in the Nonathlon. I weigh myself before any potential PB attempt and hope I am lwt.

I get an additional 30-40 points as a lwt and I don't think you can compete with that right across the board.

So I am looking for a double whammy by May next year. Beat you with my lwt and hwt scores. I would expect a pint coming my way if I do

Hi Denis, nothing to say. Unlikely from another Loiner
