Hey Mark, are you still on the other side of the pond? Anyway, new PB for 6K last night. Target was to improve by 2 seconds on split and hit it dead on. Improved from 24:09 to 23:46. All negative splits, except one up .2, with final 500 of 1:53. I was pulling 1:42 to 1:44 in the final ten strokes or so. I'd been afraid that all the L4 work would not translate to a 6K but I was dead wrong.

Hope you're finding time to row.
Stonking 6k Andreas

new 500m pb for me yesterday did a 1.27.6, and at 73.9kgs puts me fairly high up the rankings for a junior lightweight but if only I could 'sort out' my 2k, apparently I'm about 9 seconds off where I should be

Finished the HC with a HM PB 82:33.3 ( - 10 seconds)

Bit of a fly and die and the last 8K was hard but I now know that if I pace it correctly I can do sub 82. That is my next big target

I posted notice of a new 10k PB on another thread, but this is probably the best place to spell out the details.

Old time 44:45.5, new time 44:22.3, both at 24 spm.
Splits: (2k each)
2:15.3
2:13.4
2:12.3
2:12.5
2:11.9
The average was 2:13.1, but what gave me a boost was the fact that the last three 2ks were all faster than my last season's single 2k PB (at this altitude). These, of course, were all strung together with no breaks. My most recent best 2k pace here was 2:06.9, so that is what I use as a base. The pace for that last season PB was 2:12.7, but I must admit that I was still rowing at a rate of 20spm. I picked it up to about 24 when I went down to sea level to compete at the Beach Sprints in January. The combination of higher rate and lower altitude got the pace down to 2:04.9. Three weeks later, at Boston, I picked the rate up to about 28 and lowered the pace to 2:04.5. The improvements that I have made since then are mainly the result of getting into an actual training program for erg competition. I probably put in more erg time from August 1st to December 1st this year than I had in all the 12 or so years before that I have had my ergometer.

regards,

Bob S.

The sea level training has been good to me. After my 30 min "PB" the other day I did a 25k row @1:49.7 the next day and later that day I saw a 10k training on RowPro.I decided to join and when I started I felt very good and started of pulling 1:40's.I thought with nothing to loose and decided to see how long I will last.At the end I manage to finnish with 1:40.7/500 ,gave me a time of 33:45.1
My second best time ever and I think the second best time in the last two years on the rankings. My previous time was 33:28.
I'm not so surprised at the time but more ander the sircumstances regarding the training before.Have anybody experience anything like this before????

You sure are in good form at the moment. The difficult part now will be trying to hold this form until the Crash Bs. Over the years I've had similar situations where I've been able to row 6-10K sessions in the low 1:40s close together. However these have usually been followed by periods of feeling a bit flat for a while where it became more difficult to hold low 1:40s for so long.

You may be reaching a peak now, so be carefull and don't over do it. The Crash Bs are still several weeks away.

Rockin Roland
