I've noticed that you really have to give it h*** that first few hundred meters to get on pace. Just one second arghhhh.

I looked at the rankings and if you can drop just a couple of seconds you'll be in the top 10.

Congrats.

Jeff

New PB for me in the 2K. Went from 6:51.4 down to 6:46.3. I had targeted 1:40/6:40 pace but that was a little too optimistic. Especially coming off of the flu and almost no speed work.

I was right on, well maybe a little fast, for 1300 meters and then died a thousand deaths the last 700 while only maintaining about 1:43 pace.

I did have one perfect 100m split though 1:40 pace at 10mps.

Sorry Mike, I pushed you down one place.

Jeff

JohnnyBike,

Well done mate. PB on HM and 5K in the space of a few days, and both faster than mine. You're getting scary now...

I did a steady HM on Saturday morning @ 2:06 pace. Didn't know I was going to do it until I got to the gym, but still had a cold so couldn't get close to a PB time.

P.S. Don't forget to update your signature block...

Those are my next steps to follow (not taking in consideration the height/weight differences). One question: why not making a 1,3k instead of a 2k. I mean, with our age, we don't deserve those 1000 deaths anymore...
Keep it on!
Bought a C2 yet?

I figured that if I was going to update my sig I might as well make it worthwhile so I knocked off a 10K PB today as well. Not by much, 4 seconds, now 38:12.3 27spm AHR 150 MHR 158. Quite pleasing as it was one of my better times and therefore hard to beat.
I have had a good day all in all, see my diary for details. I never planned on the 10K attempt but I just felt so good when I got to the gym and my HR was very low when warming up so I went for it. Had already done a 6K and a yoga session this morning.
Life is good sometimes, then it reverts back to normal.

Mark:

Did my L2 WP workout today as 3 x 2K. Your two recent PB convinced me I had to try again myself so, on second, I went for 7:32. Hit 7:32.8 which lowered my PB by 3.1 seconds. Felt really good. Splits were 1:54.4, 153.5, 153.2 and 1:51.7. Followed Mike's plan to target +1 until 1200 left, switch to even until 600, pull -1 to 200 then see what was in the tank. Hardest was maintaining 1:52 between 600 and 200. Last 2K was target of average pace of 1:58 and hit 7:52 dead on with target inverse splits. I checked my log and my first continuous interval was Nov 28th.

Regards

I really enjoyed today's session, getting two PBs was the icing on the cake.

I'm back in training for the next competition - 14th Jan - Surrey IRC.
