Took a page out of John's book and decided to row a 6K after my 2K PB, felt good, and just went for it. Result?

New 6K PB: 24:17.1

Down from 24:43.4.

Maybe I should row a marathon now?!?

Not!

They make the 2K go much easier until the last 500M, and then it's all mind over lactic acid. I can understand how you've been able to row so well recently after all those distance rows you do. They give one much confidence to push the envelope. Money in the bank to be withdrawn at race time, so to speak. I just now need to push my training a bit harder -- more and longer distances.

-- Mark

I'll "follow" you, but would have a hard time doing it along with you ... maybe a modified "madness" approach ...

I'm more inclined to do 300K+ during the Holiday Challenge period (or sooner as manageable). I've done 138,981 thus far, so I've done about 13.9K/day. Keeping it up at this rate would get me to 300K in about 3 weeks and a day (assuming no days off). Maybe I should shoot for 400K in the Holiday Challenge period instead? ... (a new thought from my mushy brain) ... In any event, the increased distance rows seem to magnify themself for me. The more and farther I row, the easier it gets and the more and farther I row. I just don't want to lose the mental motivation. Right now, I'm jazzed with the two PBs today, and proof (early, yes, but proof still) that the Wolverine Plan is working. I've also got a regional CRASH-B qualifier race in Cincinnati on 29 January 2006. I'm using it as my "race" for the season ... and something to point towards.

I'm watching you race up the meters board and couldn't understand why you went into overdrive ... now get it.

OK, I've logged just under 20K today, football is on the TV, and I need a pint (or 2) to quench my thirst. Enough rowing for today, but a good day.

-- Mark

Still a newbie at this (started 2 months ago), but I just love my last three 5k times:

11/30/05 21:55.3

12/1/05 21.31.5

12/3/05 20.57.5

Gee, a 30 second PB every time! Not long now and I'll be sub-10 min.

What's that, you say? Can't keep improving at the same rate? Ignorance is bliss.

Nick

Went for an easyish session this morning and set a new PB.

5K@20spm is probably my favourite session and that and the 30@20 are the sessions that have allowed me to improve in the last 9 months

My PB had been 19:52 (for ages and many efforts), 2 weeks ago I got it down to 19:38 and today I lowered it to 19:36.2.
