Just completed the test race. Only 500 metres. Someone false started twice and was disqualified. I was asked to update my monitor firmware. This is done quite easily with Ergdata. Just connect up as usual and press the I in a circle on the right once you're connected. This confirms that you need an update and all you have to do is press a box on the screen to agree. Takes about 12 minutes. Then the monitor takes about 10 minutes to re-program itself.

I did the 12am test race ... total panic about three minutes before the start when I was disconnected !

Not sure where the problem was. They delayed the race start a couple of minutes (probably not just for me) and I got reconnected. Anyone else in that race get disconnected?

I'm very glad to have had that experience (not the disconnection part  ), as I feel a bit more comfortable with how it is all organised now.

Can someone please advise on what hardware and firmware you should be using for this event?

My PM5 has Hardware: 131, Firmware: 459.003.

When I go onto the race website, I am advised I am using Beta software which is not ideal for racing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

These two links provide firmware version history:
http://www.concept2.cn/en/service/monit ... e/timeline
https://www.concept2.com/support/monito ... e-timeline
The version used is linked to your hardware version.

Just before the test race yesterday, I used the Concept 2 Utility to update my firmware.
It now states I have the latest version of the firmware.
So, I did the test race yesterday with the Concept 2 PM5 showing this:
PM5 Firmware Version: 217
Hardware Version: 906

(unlikely to be the same for your hardware)

My PM5 has just been updated to
Hardware version: 130
Firmware version: 459.003

I did this after the test race yesterday (Feb 7th) so I can't confirm it is OK for racing, but it's officially the latest firmware.

(but this my not be relevant to other PM5s)
