RP3 Android PM vs C2 PM5
RP3 Android PM vs C2 PM5
I have both a Model D and a Coffey Simulatoar, both of which use the PM5. I'd like to be able to connect the RP3 android based app to either of my machines. I've used RP3's at the boathouse and I like their telemetry and especially their output curve.
Anyone know how to connect the PM5 cable to an android (USB) device so that it will feed data. I know there are different numbers of magnets, but I can deal with that later. For now I just want to see Data coming through on the android tablet

Re: RP3 Android PM vs C2 PM5
Not quite sure what you are using but I have previously connected my android phone to a pm3/4 to use the Erg data app using the cables from the C2 shop in the UK.
not sure if this helps or not.
Just recently got back to the rower and only need to use the android bluetooth connection as technology keeps moving forward.

Re: RP3 Android PM vs C2 PM5
You can't. Both the PM5 and RP3 have their own bluetooth protocols which are not compatible. Same goes for the data flowing through the USB cable. And the apps only talk to their own machines.
Re: RP3 Android PM vs C2 PM5
Not sure if I understood correctly what you intend to do.
Ergzone is a third party app, that can connect to RP3 and PM5 to show their metrics, as far as I know.

Re: RP3 Android PM vs C2 PM5
As I understand it, he wants to connect the RP3 app to a PM5, as he likes the GUI better. It is indeed more beautiful, but it is incompatible with a PM5 as it is a direct competitor and both use their own protocols.
Re: RP3 Android PM vs C2 PM5
Ah, got it. He wants to use the app of the RP3 even without using an RP3 rower, but a C2 rower and some other unknown (to me) device equipped with a PM5 as well. Yeah, this won't happen

Re: RP3 Android PM vs C2 PM5
The SimulateOar can be fitted with a PM5. But if it makes sense from a metrics perspective can seriously be questioned, as all physical properties have to be identical.
Re: RP3 Android PM vs C2 PM5
Sure, that's an additional question. But fully agree to the statement, that the RP3 app and the PM5 will speak completely different languages.
