6x500 1r as a 2k predictor?

Post by Erger2222 » November 20th, 2024, 7:59 pm

I did this workout today and went 1:43.5. Is that an ok goal for a 2k? Thanks in advance

Imo it's possibly a good prediction but in reality 500m isn't comparable to a 2k. I can cope relatively well with one min rest, but others may struggle so it can be deceptive.

I'd recommend doing more than 750m, preferably 1k, for a better understanding. Maybe try doing 1k x 3 1r?
51 HWT; 6' 4"; 1k= 3:09; 2k= 6:36; 5k= 17:19; 6k= 20:47; 10k= 35:46 30mins= 8,488m 60mins= 16,618m HM= 1:16.47; FM= 2:40:41; 50k= 3:16:09; 100k= 7:52:44; 12hrs = 153km

Nothing like a 2k indicator than going out and doing a 2k. If you finished feeling like you could've gone quicker, it's still a benchmark.

Personally, no physical endeavour has left me feeling the way I did after my last 2k test, no workout is comparable. FWIW, my 5k workout "predictors" suggested I should've been somewhat quicker than my PB.

It all depends if you have used the same stroke rate for the 6 x 500 that you would for a 2k. If you used a higher rate then it's not a predictor for 2k.

Best way to predict a 2k is to do one.
