Re: Old ergdata pm4/pm3 download??
It seems Concept2 have removed ErgData For PM3 PM4 from the app stores.
The Android version ErgData For PM3 PM4 (version 1.01) can still be downloaded from https://apkpure.com/ergdata-for-pm3-pm4 ... 4/versions
To install, download it on your device (or copy it to device), open a files app, then click on the .apk file.
Android may ask for approval to install an "unknown" application, as it is not coming from the regular app store.
You may have to enable "install unknown applications" in Developer Options.
You may have to enable Developer Options in Settings/About/Click multiple (7) times on the build version.

If its a first generation PM4, seriously I wouldn't bother just sell it and buy a PM5 if you insist on using ErgData.
The fist gen PM4 cannot even connect to the latest Garmin heartrate monitors now, you are going to waste time and money getting ErgData going on it.

Re: Old ergdata pm4/pm3 download??
On a whim, I installed ErgData 4 from the link above. It works! But ...
1. I can't figure out how to get it to upload to the C2 logbook. I've entered credentials, and "sync" shows my pre-existing log entries, but I haven't figured out to add any. If you use "just row" and quit it asks you "are you done" and when you say "Yes" it resets with no log entry. If you finish a programmed workout, still no log entry.
2. How do you make the bluetooth HRM work? I tried and it didn't show my Polar H9. I went to Android and connected the H9. Still didn't show up in ErgData.
3. The PM3 uses the only USB port, requiring me to swap with the charging cable for every row. I guess there's no way to do both? Not sure a hub would work. Maybe?
Please help! And yes, I have RowErg and SkiErg and BikeErg with PM5. This is my other RowErg, and it isn't worth $200+shipping+brokerage to update it.

Partially answered my own question with help of the Wayback Machine.
-- if you remove the logcard, and use a set workout, it gets logged.
-- if you use "just row" it doen't seem to get logged, whether you hit "menu" on the PM to end the workout, or "Yes" to the ErgData popup.

1. Remove Log Card
2. (a) Row a set workout (regardless of duration) ; OR
(b) Row at least 1 minutes (regardless of distance) and answer "Yes" to "Are you done?"
3. Swipe to get to the log menu and hit "sync" in top left; dismiss the annoying "Done" message.
As for HRM:
1. I have not been able to connect to bluetooth HRM
2. ErgData picks up the legacy Gymlink (5khz) HRM signal
Bonus: BoatCoach app seems to have the same behavior for both saving and HRM. I like the ErgData screens a bit better.

The PM4 has no Bluetooth only ANT+ connectivity.

ErgData pretends to be able to do bluetooth HRM. But it doesn't work with my setup.

Re: Old ergdata pm4/pm3 download??
Just get a CooSpo H808S from AliExpress they are Bluetooth and ANT+, cheap as chips.
What version Firmware is your PM4 running, its in the product ID screen. You want to make sure its the last version made for it.

Re: Old ergdata pm4/pm3 download??
I have a Coospo. I doubt it'll work, but I'll try it once I install Ergdata on its forever phone. The problem is with ErgData 4, not the PM3.Carl Watts wrote: ↑November 10th, 2024, 10:50 pmJust get a CooSpo H808S from AliExpress they are Bluetooth and ANT+, cheap as chips.

Re: Old ergdata pm4/pm3 download??
Ergdata does not connect to HRMs. Ergdata gets it's heart rate data from the PM4 (along with stroke data). So if the PM4 cannot connect to the HRM then ergdata has nothing.
re: " ErgData picks up the legacy Gymlink (5khz) HRM signal" Not sure any phones come with 5khz radio receivers. More likely what's happening is the PM3/4 has the optional 5 khz heart rate receiver. The PM3/4 connects to the HRM, gets the HR data and sends it to ergdata.
re: "ErgData pretends to be able to do bluetooth HRM. But it doesn't work with my setup." Think Ergdata says it gets it's heartrate data from the PM. Ergdata will remember which belt you use, and when connected to the PM, Ergdata will tell the PM to connect to that belt. Then ergdata has HR data.
Assuming that you have a PM4, as Carl says, a current firmware PM4 will connect to an ANT+ belt. Then when Ergdata connects to the PM4 it will capture and report HR data. Many belts are combo BTLE and ANT+ including the CooSpo H808S Carl suggested. I use a polar H10 over ANT+ and that works fine too.
FWIW: I used a cable connection and an old version of ergdata until stroke data ended up wrong on the log and C2 support said "no longer supported". Then I switched to the PM5 and BTLE. GL.
EDIT: two threads got comingled. The first few posts were PM4. The last few were PM3. AFAIK the pm3 doesn't have ANT+ so your only HRM option is gymlink (polar 5khz). There are cheap gymlink HRMs out there, or you can use polar h9/h10 hrms which also have gymlink. The ANT+ solution won't work for a PM3.
Re: Old ergdata pm4/pm3 download??
The old ergdata definitely claims to be able to connect to "bluetooth smart HRM" ... it searches for such but never finds any. No mention of ANT+ or the PM.
When I say gymlink, for that I do mean via the PM3's wired gymlink receiver. That works OK. I already have a cheap gymlink strap from Ali Express. My H9 speaks gymlink as well, but it is completely unreliable.

Re: Old ergdata pm4/pm3 download??
Can you find me a ref where ergdata says it can connect a heart rate monitor. I was pretty sure all HRMs attach to the pm, and all ergdata did was receive HR data from the PM and display/record it. If I've got that wrong I'd like to know it.gvcormac wrote: ↑November 11th, 2024, 11:01 pmThe old ergdata definitely claims to be able to connect to "bluetooth smart HRM" ... it searches for such but never finds any. Sorry the H9 isn't working for you. My H10 works great (when it has a good battery, and a good belt. It's on its second belt and maybe 7th battery). I use it for gymlink to a lifecycle from the 90s. H9 and H10 are very similar.
Re: Old ergdata pm4/pm3 download??
Concept 2 has deleted all documentation on the old Ergdata. In reading Wayback Machine and this forum, it looks like it just has a very misleading user interface. It claims to be able to connect to smart bluetooth monitor, but apparently that means through the PM, and only if it is a PM5. And if you are connecting to the PM5 with Bluetooth, that causes a world of hurt because the HRM wants to connect to your phone, but unless it is a dual Bluetooth, blocks it from connecting to the PM5 and hence (old) Ergdata.Tsnor wrote: ↑November 12th, 2024, 12:50 amCan you find me a ref where ergdata says it can connect a heart rate monitor. New Ergdata works properly in this regard. Your HRM can be connected to the PM5, and Ergdata remembers this connection (if you ask it) and does it automatically in future. Ergdata also remembers your PM5 (which it stopped doing a while ago, but Concept2 fixed it when I complained to them).
On the other hand, they brushed off my questions about old Ergdata. "Not supported. Try BoatCoach."
BoatCoach, by the way, behaves almost exactly the same as old Ergdata: Only saves an open-ended workout if it is longer than 1 minute, and claims (but fails) to search for a smart bluetooth HRM.
Re: Old ergdata pm4/pm3 download??
Nothing to add for the specific stuff, but even the PM5 itself only saves workouts longer than a minute.
