Thanks Mike,

Could probably shave a second or two off with better pacing and a more focused warm up.

Well done Sascha, going to have to try this ski erg one day! 😊

Thanks Stu, it’s going well. I’ve kind of swapped long steady state erg workouts with getting on the water, which seems to be working well. I’m still pretty rubbish at it (love it though!) but they’re easy metres and it complements the hard erg work well. 3 times a week I’m doing 90 mins on the water ticking over at zone2 or 3. The coaches have also got me in the gym and lifting weights which is something I’ve avoided my entire life! Not completely enamoured with it but it certainly seems to be having an effect.

Hope you’re well mate.

Thx Anthony, you definitely should, as it is fun :)
I'm into that skierg stuff for a year now, only using it at the gym for warmup, hardly doing any long stuff at it. But CVS gains from the rower seem to carry over well to it, so only technique and breathing need to adjust, which can be well achieved by shorter warmup sessions.
On the 1k you already ate me, so waiting for the longer distances to catch up, too

My height and technique improvement is the difference I think. Your numbers for your size are incredible. You’re definitely a strong aerobic athlete compared to me. Something I will be working on post BRIC. 🦾

The first serious 5k on the skierg was during the tour der skierg in February. I finished it in 19:15.2 and was really wasted afterwards.
Today I decided to go for a 5k on the skierg for gym warmup, as I typically do 15min and get slightly above 4k in that time, so the extra ~4mins were a no brainer.
I started a little bit faster than usual warmup pace, but only ~1s/500. Maintained the split throughout and went for a little faster last k to get the average below 1:50.
It was a good warmup/workout, but far away from a full out effort. A minute faster and felt like a harder warmup (as it should, because it was meant to be such  ), but not draining. I could perform well during gym routine, which was legs today.

This ranks 11 of 110, there are not much skierg users out there to rank their pieces

Long time since I’ve done last 2k TT on skierg.
Done 1h30 easy rollerski this morning to kickstart the engine.
New 2k pr! Start too fast and faded a bit on last 1k
Last 100m I reach 197 bpm, long time no see such high heart rate.

I really think I could go sub 18 already, but that would need a bit better preparation and not a cold start for a gym warmup
Probably sub 18 would be near to my current capabilities on the skierg, so far more challenging than the above attempt :P

You have it! 2,5 sec less per split on 5k are not that much!

Thanks, was hoping for sub 6:40 but next time!
Mmm no, I didn’t participate in world sprints, 2k is the shortest distance for me! My torn shoulder labrum doesn’t like much anaerobic stuff

On fact it would only be 1.6s faster, that's why I'm convinced to be capable of doing it.

Random 500m PB during gym warmup today. My buddy forced me to do a trial and I agreed, despite having done some hard intervals yesterday and already a 15min skierg warmup at 1:50

I knew my unofficial PB was 1:26.4 from the stroke data off the 624m CTC some months ago, so I wanted to get at least that time. Started a bit slower than I would with fresh legs and tried to hang on as long as possible. Faded hard, but went well B)

Code: Select all

Time	Meters	Pace	Watts	Cal/Hr	S/M
1:26.0	500m	1:26.0	550	2193	39
0:16.8	100m	1:24.0	591	2332	39

0:17.0	300m	1:25.0	570	2261	39
0:17.5	400m	1:27.5	522	2098	41
0:18.0	500m	1:30.0	480	1952	40
- 1.1s to my official PB.
With fresh legs and higher rate, a sub 1:26 should be there.
