Help with using rowing plans

Post by Mapcuk » September 18th, 2024, 9:02 am

New to rowing and Im looking for an easy way to have specific workouts that can easily be sent to the concept 2 rower as a saved workout or on my phone ErgData app, without having to program them manually on rower?
As someone who also uses training peaks app for running and cycling the workouts are sent directly to my garmin watch or Garmin computer and it’s seamless. Does something like im describing exist?

C2 suggest a WOD (workout of the day) every day (obvs!). It appears in the fourth tab of the app marked WOD. If you like what you see, then just hit ready once paired with your PM5 and the workout is loaded. Several on here use it regularly, but don't mistake it for a structured training programme. You still have to make up your own mind how you're going to row it - as a TT or something slower. If you just try to max out every day, you'll never recover...

Wods can be loaded direct to your phone by Ergdata, so show on the PM when connected. They're very effective, if you don't mind surprises and working out just how to do them.

I look at the WOD every day, but rarely ever wind up doing them. They are often too short and I find the rest intervals odd. There are also no steady state rows.

Your best bet is to find a rowing plan you like and then just add your daily workout manually on the PM or into ergdata and then sync with your PM when you row. Takes like 30 seconds once you get the hang of it. If doing a plan, you will often have repeat workouts that you can just select "rerow" on the PM.

There might be some-one who has done all the appropriate workouts on their own app and could share then to save the effort. (ergdata)

but in a lot of plans the rows are variations of a few core sessions, and it's not that much effort to adjust a parameter here/there once you've put them in once I find.

That said Ergzone is a little easier for fine tuning a workout than ergdata, and you can create and save your planned sessions in advance if you so wish.

ErgZone was created specifically to do that: create in advance workouts in the app or computer (using the web admin interface) and then when it's time to do the workout the app programs the monitor for you.

IMHO, ergdata is a bit more user friendly for setting up workouts. I started using ergzone recently, like the challenges within the app very much, but ergdata has a better user interface and the favorites are better visible/have a better overview, as they don't list the workouts done in the past below them. This makes the list in ergzone very long to scroll through and could be organized better.
Ergdata also allows workout setup in advance, so ergzone has no advantage in this regard.
