After the PB and British Record in the One Minute last week I had to give the 500 a good go this week so blasted away and despite just about grinding to halt on the last stroke managed a new PB and British Record in the 65-69 Lwt Category with a 0.7 improvement over the time I did back in January ending up on 1:32.5 plus went to the top of the World Rankings. DF was 135. Stroke Rate was 46 spm. :D
Congrats

Smashed my all time pb from 22.5 years ago, March 2002, I was 32 when I set this. Just short of Sub 1.30 but am happy with the overall result, last 100m was the worst I have ever felt on a rower :D it was like I had been on a 12hr binge. I forgot what it was like.

1.30.4 500m 1.30.4 474 41 150df
17.3 100m 1.26.5 541 45
17.2 200m 1.26.0 550 45
17.6 300m 1.28.0 514 41
18.5 400m 1.32.5 442 39
19.8 500m 1.39.0 361 39

I reckon if I sort out the pacing I can get an extra second and half max. This turned into a fly and die, all tactics left the room
Great result 👏

Based on some calculations Pointed out by iain i have grabbed a pb for 1 min as well of 345m. 350m is defo on flat out now.
Congratulations!

Personal best heart rate of 164 😂.

Highest I'd seen recently was 154; the 164 came at the end of 5x750m/2min rest, ie BPP W14D2. It was 100% effort in that moment, but all had been done at 21spm, DF 100 (still trying to rehab a sloppy technique), so I'm certain that it's still not the true maximum.

Two somewhat unexpected PBs this week... I wouldn't recommend attempting a 10k and 5k time trial two days apart, but circumstances dictated I get them done...

Monday, 10k time trial: My goal was to sit at 1:43 splits at r28 and see what I could muster at the end. The answer was... not much. Felt I had a bit left in the tank afterwards and that this was a case of not being quite sharp enough mentally to dig deep and make the final push for the sub-1:43 average. A "mid-life" PB nonetheless, so am pleased with the end result.

Code: Select all

Wednesday, 5k time trial: I'd just found out that morning that I may need to travel for work next week. Knowing that a 5k test was due for my masters club by next week, and with hectic long weekend plans upcoming, I would have to get it done Wednesday or Thursday. I was feeling surprisingly good during my warm-up so decided to give it a go. Knew I had to be a bit brave on this one, and committed to sitting at r30. This is actually a lifetime PB, as I never tested 5k in high school or college. Woohoo!

Very strong PBs Justin, and I don't have a clue what the secret is but I've also had great success with doing tough sessions on consecutive days, but I suppose the issue is that I'll never know if I could have gone faster.

Woohoo!
