I've tried to strictly keep to UT2 but I'm not convinced that it's beneficial for a continuous period of time, but that is just my experience, so it's clearly not definitive. .
I much prefer to mix up some grey zone paces with UT2 sessions when they feel necessary, as I strongly suspect that it's due to UT2 only being beneficial if you really do maximise the harder stuff.
We are all different, so I'm not saying that this is the best option, but it definitely works better for me.

Yes, I know you and others on here do some seriously intense stuff, and, in those circumstances, UT2 provides much needed respite - it's almost a necessity, really.Dangerscouse wrote: ↑August 28th, 2024, 2:32 pmI've tried to strictly keep to UT2 but I'm not convinced that it's beneficial for a continuous period of time, but that is just my experience, so it's clearly not definitive. .

That's the nub of the issue. I honestly don't think I go hard enough to warrant UT2 sessions as a defined weekly session. I do use them when I feel like I need it, but I've given up working within strict guidelines as it doesn't work for me. I occasionally do really test myself, but it's all too often a little bit short.hikeplusrow wrote: ↑August 28th, 2024, 3:00 pmYes, I know you and others on here do some seriously intense stuff, and, in those circumstances, UT2 provides much needed respite - it's almost a necessity, really.
I find it fascinating that people like Deadlifting265, as an example, will maximise his intervals, but due to not doing too many weekly sessions, he can really hammer these hard days without much concern.
So many variables are at play there's always the need to see what you're capable of, assess and adjust accordingly
