Logging data from a public gym device

Post by Roodavis » August 11th, 2024, 9:46 am

I have recently added indoor rowing to my fitness workout routine. The gym I workout at has two Concept2 PM4 devices. I purchased a Concept2 LogCard and a card reader. When I insert the Logcard into the monitor(s) it reads my user info and allows me to move training sessions to the Logcard. I have installed the Concept2 Utility app on both a macOS device and a Windows10 device. Both devices recognize that the card reader is connected and the card reader flashes its activity LED when the LogCard is inserted. However, the Concept2 Utility never shows a device connected.

Is there anything I can do to successfully log and track my workouts that does not involve asking the gym to update their device monitors to PM5's?

Have you tried connecting your laptop to your PM4 with a USB-A to USB-B printer cable inserted in the bottom of the PM4?

I guess nobody wants to take a laptop to the gym to sync workouts from a gym machine to logbook :D

No experience with the old tech stuff of log card, unfortunately no help for the actual problem.

Don't hesitate to call C2 to ask for them for help - they've helped me with several different issues over the years.

You guess wrongly. I've taken my laptop in (in the past) to update firmware on the ergos. I've taken a USB stick loaded with new firmware to a machine in South Africa and these days I'll use my phone.

For an update, sure, that's once in several month. But any time you do a workout? For me that would mean to take my laptop with me every time going to the gym.
I also did the maintenence of the ski and rowErg in my gym, as stuff isn't going to do it. I planned that aside from my frequent gym sessions.
