Well not real great but I am trying and having a seriously great time doing it.

I broke the 20 minute for a 5k 19:36

now trying to crank down my 10k to be below 40, I am just on the edge

the overall great thing is a dropped now about 33 pounds, I can row 10k 5 days a week and feel good and I am eating well. Now if I could somehow convince my brain my body is not 41 I would be set

Glad you're inventive enough to stay with it. I bet you're getting some pretty good workouts in.

I only had 30 minutes left after the warm-up before driving my daughter to her swim workout. I started comfortably at a half-marathon pace, then after 5 minutes I got a little more ambitious and increased the pace. After 15 minutes, I knew I could reach 8000m; I steadily increased the pace, while always staying between 25 and 27 spm.
The result: 8063m. It is not great, but it is a PB by default, since it's my first attempt at 30 minutes!

Well done all!

I don't routinely go for PB but something came over me this morning. I just decided to test out the pace boat feature on my new PM3 and set it for a 5k @ 1:59.0. My long, slow rowing has helped some. I ended up with a new PB. I also increased my SPI from about 7.5 (27 spm) to 9 (23 spm) and it was strapless. I was quite surprised how relaxed doing a PB at 23 spm was. Old time: 20:20.7 New time: 19:49.5.

Steve

10K in 38:08. Think I can get a sub-38 10K since this PB was done without going for it.

Today i raced over 500m in the gym against another guy with a pb of 1:29:4.
Mine was 1:28:5.

It was fly and die. He raced at an enormous pace of 44 spm. I kept it steady on 33 spm. The most of the race we were at the same distance. With 100 metres to go he "died" and finished in 1:31.
I finished in a new PB of 1:27:6.
I did my first marathon today. I was aiming for 3:15, which meant doing 2:18 avg. After the halfway point, I was able to speed up, and finished in 3:10:43.1 . I was shocked to discover it was the fastest time (so far) in my age group. 1003 Nonathlon points! yippee!

I don't think I'll do anything about it when someone beats that time. I may never do another one again!

Carla
gee, carole. i'm far too shy for that sort of thing! i would like to go and watch one of these things, but that's not a good day as my littlest one is off on a school trip to rome that day, so i have to stay and wave at the coach. but perhaps another time.

maybe when i'm a lightweight, and maybe when i can get under 9 mins on EVERY 2k, i'll have a go! i don't like it when people watch me though!

jane
