The trouble is that, occasionally, the workouts don't appear. The utility says they are uploaded, but then I get nothing but a blank screen.

How are you transferring workouts from the PM5 to the C2 Utility on your computer? I'm still having a hard time envisioning exactly how you are performing the whole process...

If you are not using the ErgData App, is there something stopping you from using it?

After my workout I connect the PM5 to my computer with a USB-type cable. I don't use the app because I have a different app running (Zwift Companion App) while I ride.

Yes I picked up an ANT+ USB dongle for my PC today and all is perfect - Ergdata is running on my iPhone 8 via Bluetooth, my Polar OH1+ heart rate monitor is connected via ANT+ and is seen in both Ergdata and on the PM5. And I now have Zwift running on my laptop via the ANT+ dongle. Heart rate showed up in Zwift as well.

I hit Just Ride on my PM5 once Zwift was loaded and hit the PM5 Menu button to end the ride when I was finished. Ergdata then synced my workout to my Concept2 Logbook while Zwift recorded my ride details in its own app.

As mentioned in @kona2's quote above, I have found it is key to press the Menu button on the PM5 at the conclusion of an activity. This assures the PM5 recognizes the activity as complete and makes it available for transfer to either the C2 Utility or the ErgData Logbook.

The liver bird is a mythical creature which is the symbol of the English city of Liverpool. It is normally represented as a cormorant, and appears as such on the city's arms, in which it bears a branch of laver seaweed in its beak as a further pun on the name "Liverpool"

The Liver bird is also on the Liverpool Football Club crest and is their mascot, which they named Mighty Red.
