Agree Sascha, didn"t lay it all on the line today as you can see by 23spm average. Just did what I needed to do for nice negative split, good hard row and 7 sec PB.

Then yours is looking slightly soft as well at 0.31S/500m  Personally I would have expected a wider divergence 0f 0.7-1S/500m, but I find 6k easier as it is not quite on the ragged edge the way that 5k is so I tend to fall a bit further short of what I could achieve in 5k relative to 6k. Of course internationally there is a disparity (at least amongst OTW rowers) as 5k is the preferred test distance in UK while 6k is in US, not sure about other jurisdictions.

Haha, fair point
I think the reason is mostly daily performance variation. I did the 6k on a better day compared to 5k and had less drop off.
Both PBs are "old", so need to update them. Next month CTC will force me to go for the 6k and I wanted to go for 5k already last season, but missed a proper opportunity, so I will do it this season B)

New 10k pb :D

I had the afternoon off and kids are away overnight. I decided to attempt the 10k time trial I planned for sunday after following the 10k plan by RowAlong for 5 month. Well, I was quite nervous as I never tried a real 10k time trial. Although I felt quite rested my HR was way to high starting with 100 pbm :o
Than at 1 km (which didn't feel well at all) my husband called me and I had to quit. After that I tried again. Again pace felt too slow and HR too high. But I didn't want to give up and just rowed on and on. I was pretty sure I wouldn't be able to achieve my goal of a sub 2:20 pace. I just wanted to see how far I could row. But than I sneaked up to the 2:20 and gave nearly everything I could HR being far beyond AT. I ended up with a 2:19.8 pace and 46:36.1 improving my pb by 1:09 minute. Quite proud :D

Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M

Great row. I always think of the first half of a TT as a mental challenge. You know that you can row further at the current pace because you have! The trouble is that it is too easy to focus on the unknown of whether you can row to the end of the piece at that pace, but that is really an issue for later, the number of times that I have backed down or mentally conceded that I am not going to finish during the first 2k of even HMs is immense! Well done for keeping going. Of course next time you need to remember this and set off a little quicker in the full knowledge that the first part won't feel great, but you managed sub 2:16 pace for the final 2k last time, so 2:20 now is well within your ability. Once the system has settled into a rhythm and your endorphins are flooding your body, you don't feel the discomfort as much and so can keep going.
