Tonite I dropped my 500m time from 146.7 to 140.8 at 28spm. Was going 1:30 til the last 150m when I started my sprint(dont know how I had anything in me). With a mighty leg drive to start the sprint, I flew off the blasted machine. After having to let go of the handle to get back on without unstrapping, the split was down to 2:00 and my rythm was shot. In conclusion, I need to work on my balance or figure out why I fell off the seat, and work on getting the spm's up.

Well, I just got my C2 in last friday and did a 9 min 2k row just to get a feel and then did a 6121 m 30 mins straples on saturday. I'm trying to learn good form from the get go, though I don't think I'm getting nearly enough leg power in my strokes. This morning I got up to try another 30' row and found that the monitor wouldn't turn on. So I did a little cursing and was thinking of just using the timer on my hr monitor watch and just rowing with no monitor and then calling concept 2 on monday. However, after a warmup I was thinking at least I could try changing out the batteries and found that fixed the issue. So I had a little frustration to work out and figured I'd row a 2k and set my baseline for doing a low volume wolverine plan and building from there and also to see roughly what my max heartrate would be. I ended up rowing a 7:56 2k with a pretty consistent 1500m and a slightly faster last 500m and about died. I was at 32 spm and strapped in. My heartrate rapidly went into the 160's and gradually increased to a max of 188/187 the last 200m which is weird because at 32 the 220 - age rule says 188. So for me it's pretty close. So going to use that as my max.<br><br>So I'm pretty excited. I think for me sub 8min is a nice starting baseline to go from and since I know my current 2k and my hr I think I can setup a good starting training program and start working on building a decent workout volume. I think I will only be retesting my 2k times every 2 months or so, so that I should set a new PB each time for quite a while.<br><br>I've made an inquiry into the local st. Louis rowing club as well to see if I can get someone there to help critique my erging form. I'm hoping to go to their "learn to row" session next summer (June 05) and to have improved my CV fitness by then so I don't totally embarrase myself.<br><br>Also, if I can find a setup that will work I'm hoping to get rowpro once they support online rowing and seeing if I can find some of you other begginers to row with some online.<br><br>Kenneth Murphy<br>32M 6'5'' 111kg 2k 7:56

Have been rowing for just over a year now and today did a 60 min row at a pace(1:56.7) that was faster than my first 2k attempt(1:59.3). I last did a 60 min back in Nov 2003 and died big time and managed 14,827m. Been doing a lot of steady state 8k to 11/12k and it paid off nicely as I felt strong doing 15,421m. Did first 30 min at 7650m and last 30 min at 7771 (is 8100m in a 30 min attempt possible?)<br><br>Thanks to all who post here - enjoy this forum a lot<br><br>Ridgehiker

Broke 8000m for 30minutes for the first time today- 8020 m (1:52.2/500). a good present for my 38th birthday on saturday!!<br><br>andrew

Still VERY annoyed at my dismal performance in my first on-the-water head race last weekend -- I somehow managed to get not one but two separate buoys wedged serially between my port rigger and the boat -- I just went 8369m for 30 min. WinAmp shuffle gave me "Layla" coming down the last 2k, which helped greatly....<br><br>Here's hoping that translates into something credible on the river at tomorrow's club scrimmage....

Hi All, <br>I don't do this often, but I am feeling so great about my half marathon today that I thought I'd post here. Been doing quite a bit of rowing here at C2 for the Fall Rowing Challenge, and I've had some very satisfying hours, half hours and 10ks. Today I decided to go for sub 1:20 for the half marathon. <br><br>Basically pulled 1:54-1:53 for 15k of it, with my hr staying below 150. I use the predicted time mode, so at this point sub 1:20 looked to be in the bag. Began to pull 1:52-1:51, with an average of 1:45 for the last 1000.<br><br>Final result was 1:19:18, 1:52.7 pace. Damper was at 120 (my magic number for almost all erging) stroke rate was 29-31 the whole way, except higher for the last 1000.<br><br>Had a large chocolate chip cookie as a reward.....Even had to call Dena for an entry code for the ranking.......JonW 53 year old not-quite-a-lightweight<br>
