More Lunies Complete The Challenge!

Post by Kona2 » May 11th, 2024, 10:46 am

Image More Lunies on the Honor Board for the Marathon & Century Challenge !!

The Tally So Far - With 4 days of opportunity remaining:

Full Moon: 2 (Mardix, Stefan)

Half Moon: 28 (David A, Brent, Ian B, Candace, Maria L-G, mardix and David A 2nd one, and Miss A with a whopping 21)

Image

Congratulations, Miss A, on completing TWENTY ONE half marathons (so far) in the Marathon and Century Challenge. This is quite a good run of them!

In fact, doing half marathons every day (just about) was how Minnie the Mooner got her name....but even she did not do more than one of them a day!

hi, thanks, to be honest, i do them pretty slow (2:30-2:45 avg. pace). it just kind of happened that i had a lot of free time in the past 2 weeks, so i thought i might as well row while I catch up on my watchlist. i'm actually surprised that i'm still rowing, i was excepting some overuse pains/injury from the sudden big increase in volume, but so far so good ;)

I guess this is a good a time and place as any to post my season goal, if for no other reason than accountability and risk of public humiliation and a virtual walk of shame if I fail.

I don’t recall, but I don’t believe that in my past life I ever got to 3 MM in a season, so I’ll go for that. That works out to an 8.5 avg daily row, which should be doable if I can be consistent.

I’m in a 12 week aerobic base building phase - lots of rowing (for me) in zone 2 - so my lifting is in maintenance mode, which should allow me to build a buffer for later in the season.

No shaming because life stuff can happen (and we won't rule out moments of total hilarity...we love those!)...and you may just find yourself totally caught up in a couple of the meter building challenges that build the buffer...consistency good!

Too much cloud cover at this location to see the aurora borealis - hope some of you have gotten a good view !! If this is a bucket list item, looks like you might have a couple days to check out potential viewing sites. I had the opportunity many times during our 3-4 year time in Alaska - always surprising in the variations!

May is National Bike Month...and perhaps your community has some fun activities planned. I always like the Bike Month Bingo - gives a lot of good ideas to individuals and their families for some biking adventures !

I did. Back in the day, I gave myself marathon rows as gifts on my birthdays. I decided to get back to it this year.

I'm not sure I've ever heard a marathon completion called a gift - they are a gift of time and energy...and a metric for sure of where you are in the life process. Good for you!
