Hmmm, I'm not sure I am quite correct! This morning my workouts seemed to save okay but I have no detailed HR data. I connected the HR monitor to the PM5, but didn't connect it to the app (as usual). I had stroke-by-stroke HR data during the workout but only the bare-bones end-of-split HR and overall-aerage HR saved.

So I guess you do need to make sure you connect the app to the HR monitor, but I don't think I did anything different this morning to usual! Except perhaps, my HR monitor has both Bluetooth and ANT, and I don't normally pay attention to which mode I choose on the PM5. Maybe the app behaves a bit differently depending on the HR monitor connection type.

As of today, I am now consistently getting the "Workout Failed to Save" error when I end a workout in the ErgData app and press the Save to Logbook button. I'm running ErgData app version 2.2.23(3) on IOS Version 17.4.1 on an iPhone 14 Pro. I've tried restarting the phone, replaced the batteries in the PM5, and tried different orders of connecting the app and HR monitor. I've been using the same PM5 for a few years and this problem never happened before now, but it's reproducible. Pressing Retry results in the same error message. My PM5 is hardware version 903 and the firmware is version 215. I’m able do upload workouts using the Concept2 Utility and a USB cable, but that process fails to upload the HR data, which is a problem.

I've found the C2 techs really helpful in the past when I've had issues. They don't monitor this site, but you can always email them at info@concept2.com - they'll probably get back to you in a couple of days or so. Just give all the info you have on versions etc exactly as @KenMoore just posted here.

Same problem here. Doesn't work on my rowerg or bikerg, which I just got this week. They both worked yesterday. Now neither will save a workout. I was able to get ErgZone to save and upload to my Logbook. I have not been able to connect to the PM5 and download (don't have the right cable), but the workouts are there.

I'm having the same problem. I've never encountered it before.

I had the same issue yesterday also. It's probably logbook server related, since nothing locally would have changed.

What I'm finding for me anyway is if you set the PM5 up to do a specific distance or time, it will save the workout at the end.

But if you try and save using the menu option ie: the three lines and "Save to Logbook" then it fails.

I use ergData iOS.

MOD: wouldn't it be better if the two threads about this are combined?

I reported this to Concept2 and they've replied that it is a bug in ErgData that should be fixed soon. They said: "The ErgData app checks and corrects the PM5 date and time when it connects. We believe you experienced this error because the date or time in the PM5 was incorrect. Disconnecting the ErgData app and then reconnecting to the PM5 (now with the correct date and time) should not cause the same symptom." They followed up with a later message that said, in part: "I'm still learning about why this occurred but it seems to have to do with the PM5 date being March 30th, specifically. I can reliably reproduce the buggy behavior by changing the PM5 date to 3/30/24, which will be helpful for the developers. I don't see this happening again."

So, it's a reproducible bug and it's date-related. I didn't have the problem today, so I hope ErgData is fixed before the next date that doesn't work.

I have been having this issue intermittently for months now. There are 10 C2 PM5s at my gym and I update the firmware on all of them from time to time as I use different ones. Sometimes the workout saves to my phone, sometimes not. Can be on the same day, same machine. I tend to do 3000m to get my heartrate up, then 2x500m to get it up again, Sometimes all save, sometimes none, sometimes one and not the others, Typically I don't get an error message just a circling arrow over a greyed out screen showing the finished workout on my phone. I have to close the app on my phone to get out of it and reopen it. I can save the workout from the PM5 onto a USB log stick and then upload it to my online log on my PC at home. It's infuriating!
