Good Day, All. Please consider erging an exactly 5000m piece (10,000m for the BikeErg) for the International Women's Day Challenge. Concept 2 will donate $5 (split evenly) to support Women's Sports Foundation and Womens Sport International. For you big meter producers, just crank out this little piece and then go on with the rest of your workout
THANKS!
17 Lunies completed the challenge, contributing $85:
Judy Abbott
David A. Alden
Pat Byron
Ty C
Ted Cowley-Gilbert
Norma Delaney
Peter Eisenmann
Kenneth Guenther
William Haag
Max Jager
Howard Lett
Ron MacBruce
Jim Menzies
Jean Menzies
Briana Patterson
Thomas Rafter
Dan Wickwar
WOOHOO and THANKS!

And some of us forgot that the 5000 m had to be EXACT...even though Norma told us! Rats. Good job rallying the Lunies to participate in the Challenge, Norma!
C2 Universe = 32,399 (5K) and 9,408 (10K) participants
Lunies = 50 (5K) and 19 (10K)
And there was a great cry as the Force diminished! Wow. Dropping from 54K to 32K in one day...that's HUGE. Happily most of the Lunies are still hanging in there!
One of the Goldens, Kai, tore the dog equivalent of her ACL a little while ago. It wasn't a complete tear, so the impact has been some limping. Still, knew it needed to get repaired. One of the things that was recommended was to go through kind of a pre-habilitation therapy session or two so that Kai would be comfortable going in to the physical therapy afterwards. So. There's a water treadmill...what Golden doesn't like water therapy...especially if you throw a tennis ball into the water?! Surgery sometime in April. This will be harder than my own knee !!
Good thing that she has good dog insurance!

The Return of Pepe Le Pew...
The grass is NOT that green yet, but Pepe (and friends and family) are back in the neighborhood. Just a whiff here and there for the last couple of days...and then full on, make yer eyes water, stinko. Yes, Pepe has returned and if all indications are true, the neighbor two houses down has a little family of them under his shed. Again. Get out the flashlights to do a fenceline search BEFORE you release the hounds. Replenish the skunk be gone clean up materials. But I digress.
C2 Universe = 33,440 (5K) and 9,847 (10K) participants
Lunies = 50 (5K) and 19 (10K)
Some teammates (Norma, Gene, and Wild Bill on a quick glance) are almost halfway through the Mudness Challenge. Others of us cannot make a misstep now or forever more in this Challenge because we have used up all our get out of jail free cards! But Santa I can explain! So if you are on the edge of the bubble....hang on...hang on...hang on!

We're on the brink of another big winter storm...not quite the mother of all storms, but certainly one that is likely to require getting the snowblower out....and naturally our Safe Routes to Parks Community Engagement session is tonight....oh well, rescheduling is always possible!
Meanwhile, even as the Lunies are pouring on the March Mudness meters, another Challenge looms on Friday: the World Erg Challenge! So next time you're in your logbook, scroll across to the Teams section, then scroll down to select JOIN so we can count the meters you're generating. Happily this is a two-fer ! Your meters count towards your Mudness daily requisites, and the totals add to the team totals for the WEC. Always a good thing!
C2 Universe = 13,984 (5K) and 3,707 (10K) participants
Lunies = 35 (5K) and 16 (10K)
Oh wail of distress! The Lunie force took a hit, but the C2 universe REALLY sustained a loss! Youch.
Yeah, that's a pretty basic looking graph. I do better ones these days, but haven't yet compiled one for the 2024 Mudness Challenge. Two things to look at here: (1) the number of participants in the C2 universe was FOUR times the 2018 participant numbers, and (2) the Time of the Great Decline is consistent every single year.

It's a shovel day! 14 inches of snow, and it's still falling! Of course, so did a giant branch (18-20 ft at 6 inch diameter) of the locust tree...feel incredibly lucky that it missed the Goldens...as I do not think it would have been survivable.
