Well done indeed Glenn. I was watching the stream of your race but didn't catch you (a low numbered erg wasn't it?). Anyway your hard work has paid off with a 1.2s PB. Would suggest you repeat in the very near future with a verified workout at home as without the race start I'm sure you'll be sub 1:30.
Hi Mike/all

thanks for the kind words.

I was on erg 11, apparently when they started filming my family saw me, but when the race started they focussed on others for some reason!!! :D

Anyway, my coach has suggested the same. For this event i started specific training in Jan and had around 6 weeks training plus an initial week of assessment/review of my stroke, and a week or so taper.

During the training my performance was improving so i have in mind to continued for a bit and then have a go at home.

I was pretty disappointed not to have broken 1:30, but as my coach pointed out, if you look at the difference between the power developed for fastest times of those competing at 60, and a 45 year old , typically they develop about 40% less power, so on balance im not that unhappy now.

Still want to go faster though!
Age 61, on 2/01/22 I rowed 115,972m 11hrs 17m 57s and raised £19k for https://www.havenshospices.org.uk/ Thanks for all the support

Shanghai it seems.

I'm not interested. Prague was convenient because I could easily travel by train. Definitely not going to fly around the globe for an indoor rowing event.

Ditto. Guess I'll have to wait another year (or two, five...?) before it's back on the north American continent and I consider going.

Sorry, big mistake on my end. Shanghai will be hosting the WRCH, not the WRICH

And I was asleep, didn't notice either. So, same answer though, although I don't think I'll qualify for those.

So....we are less than 8 months out from the typical WRICH date, assuming they stick with late February, 2025. Lots of time I guess, but seems they would have a host city announced by now. They announced the 2024 Prague location two years ahead. Anyone know anything?

I have emailed World Rowing and asked if they can put some news about WRICH 2025 here. I thought it was going to be announced at end of June and 2026 announced soon after

Seems we are going to have to wait another 2 or 3 weeks for an answer.

Strange, I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't go ahead.....

Rumours (only a rumour, I fell down the social media rabbit hole this evening) suggesting this will be virtual next year.

Looks like the initial indications are that it will be virtual:

Why virtual I am not sure, but the landing page notes that the '25 WRICH will be done on any C2 indoor rower. That leads me to believe it will be a virtual event. I could very well be wrong though.
