Waterproof cover UK

Post by Mixyblob » March 4th, 2024, 3:19 am

I'm planning on keeping my C2 rower on the patio during the summer months and I've been looking for a fully waterproof cover.
So far, all I can find are water resistant covers and that also includes the one on the Concept site.
I've searched this forum and although waterproof covers have been mentioned, there's no info on where to buy them.
I'm in UK BTW.

I purchased the water resistant cover from C2 over 20 years ago for my Model B. It is the same cover they sell now (at least it looks the same from what I can see on the Web site) and it also was designed to fit the Model D. At the time it was marketed as water resistant, NOT water proof. I have been using it for my Model D for 20 years. It is made of a heavy plastic coated fabric with velcro ties. There is only one seam along the top. I keep my rower outside on a patio for all summer (about 2 1/2 months) in Wellfleet on Cape Cod. The weather is humid and there is lots of rain and wind. It protects the rower quite well. There is one thing that you could do, that I have never even bothered doing. You could apply a bit of water proofing seam sealer to the inside of the cover at the seam at the top. Sometimes after a heavy rain I may find a bit of water on the seat. Never anywhere else. The cover completely protects the rower even in these severe conditions, including the monitor. My rower is in great shape with no rust or corrosion after 20 years. C2 is just being modest and not overselling the cover.

Thanks so much for your reply, the C2 sounds ideal, if not totally waterproof. As you say, if its only got the one seam, it shouldnt be too difficult to waterproof it.

I keep my C2 Mod D on my roof deck year round (Massachusetts, USA) with a standard C2 cover and the monitor wrapped in plastic bags. It’s survived torrential downpours, blazing sun, high wind and snow blizzards. The cover eventually weathers and cracks but the plastic bags maintain waterproof protection. I recently bought a new cover after 6 years but could have still used it with the bags.
